Too much fuel with the supra pump(660CCs). Should I downgrade my fuel pump?

Hey, I am having problems with my car, mainly, the fuel pressure is too high causing ruff idle at start, and rich conditions, with minimum possible settings on my SAFC(-49%).

I cant even get my EGTs passed 800C.

I have 660cc injectors with Supra 255lph fuel pump.

I have a 3000GT VR-4 fuel pump sitting here, should I just install it and richen up my settings? The VR-4 pump is 180lph, can it handle the 4 660s?

Or should I just buy an FPR... the FPR is too confusing, smoe cant adjust down. I cant tell whats what. and they get expensive fast.

Oh my car has the ETE32 turbo, and puts down 266 to the ground at 18lbs. 232@16lbs. My car can not reach 900C, which I heard is where peak HP is.

If you want to continue your climb for power your going to have to break down and get a FPR eventually. Might as well do it now. Don't downgrade your system as a temporary fix.

Yes, your Supra pump is overrunning your stock FPR. A fuel pressure gage tapped anywhere into your fuel rail will tell you this.

Adjustable FPR's are not really confusing. Real adjustable FPR's adjust up and down--don't waste your money on the B&M, it won't solve your problem. I run an aeromotive--$109 from Summit. Add custom adapter block and some fittings and I can adjust my FP to 20 psi if I want to. I have probably $180 in the whole setup.

So you have dynoed your car? Did you log your runs? Do you have a datalogger? What kind of timing did you have? I understand you are having some tuning issues, but do you know that 266 can be had on the stock 14B?

If you can't get an adjustable FPR soon, I would suggest you swap out the pump. If you were running stock injectors, I might not suggest it. But, your fuel pressure (from personal experience here) is probably not dropping below 50 psi. That much pressure with 660's is just drowning your engine in fuel. You know, dumping WAY too much fuel can actually damage your engine by washing the oil off your cylinder walls, causing excessive cylinder/ring wear.

The one from chargedair.com is a direct bolton that will adjust up/down but their customer service is horrible and you can expect to wait 3-4 months before getting the regulator.

Hey, well anyway. Do you think the 180lph fuel pump from a 3000GT VR-4 will be suffiecient for my 660s and ETE32?

I would rather do this, since I already have the VR-4 fuel pump, and can use the supra pump for turbo'ing my 3000GT. that way, I dont need an FPR for either car.

But if the 3000GT fuel pump is not enough, then I will get an FPR.

I went ahead and ordered the 2G FPR from chargedair.com, I bought it cause it looks easy to install. Plus I dont want to mess around with fittings and hoses. The guy said its in stock, $5.00 to ship. And it looks easy to install. So hopefully, it will arrive next week. If it takes a month or two, I can wait. My car is not performing horribly. Although my dyno numbers are a tad on the low side =(

The FPR comes with a
NOW SHIPPING WITH A 1/8" NPT GAUGE PORT!
So what cheapo gauge should I get, I will be happy with an in engine bay gauge, as I am not likely to touch it once its tuned.

Hey LarryD, I read that you are using a pocketlogger for your DSM. What pocketlogger do you have? Also, did you have to switch ECU's

Oh, I thought that that thing only worked with 1995 and some 1996 cars. Do you have a 95 ECU? I really want one, but I dont know if I want to swap ECU's

tqlla, would you like to sell the vr-4 pump to a fellow member??:D im lookin for a fp actually. let me know if you plan on selling it.

I cant sell the Fuel pump. I plan on using it for my 3000GT's turbo conversion. I have all the parts. It wont be long!

good idea, definitely let us know how long it takes. people like to bandwagon bad experiences from vendors even if that was not there experience. i got my afpr from charged air in 2 days

also you want your fpg in the car look at intellitronix or autometer for a nice accurate in car fpg.

I will let you all know when I get it. I ordered it Friday morning. So hopefully it will arrive today or tommorrow. I want to install it, but I cant tune my car again =( I will have to wait till I buy an MSD and a new battery to get my car re-dynotuned.

I need to get an AF gauge. or figure out why that blue wire mod doesnt work

Damn, I think Larryd was right. I have not gotten my AFPR, and have not been charged for it.

I have called everyday since monday. no reply. is the blizzard in IL too?
