Well I bought my cat-back system from MachV for 500 bucks, its the 3" SS system, and the other day while the car was up on a lift I noticed that the small section between the moffler and the tip was rusting, wondering if anyone else has this problem? Only had it for about one year and the thing is covered with rust! Any info/help would be appreciated I thought SS wasn't supposed to rust!? Thanks, EA.

"Precious Muffler"? What the hell does that mean? I ordered the STAINLESS STEEL cat-back system from MachV, stupid me if I thought that meant the exhaust was actually stainless steel I was just asking if everyone else has this problem or its just me...

Its the DYNOMAX muffler that (I think) comes w/all Buschur Cat-Back systems. If anyone has any USEFUL info I'd appreciate it. Erick

According to my Chem Prof two years ago, "Stainless Steel will rust", of course I slept through most of that class, so he might have said something about "Danielle Steele's Bust" for all I know or remember.

If it was a weld, I wouldn't mind. However on my exhuast there is a 2-3" long piece of piping which comes out of the back of the muffler and connects to the tip, this entire section is full of rust. EA.

Take a pic, email it to Buschur and say WTF..

As far as welds rusting, most places dont use SS welds. I think RnRRacing does use SS welds.

So this def. isn't normal then correct? I just wanna make sure I'm not gonna email Buschur and look like an ass b/c this is the normal. Would it be BR's fault or what? None of the piping has rusted EXCEPT for this section, however when I pay top-dollar for something I plan to have it for a long time and with it rusting after a year, with these New England winters who knows how long it'll last.. Thanks for the help.

It shoudnt rust, but not sure if SS is totally rustproof. Just email and ask them nicely.

Ok, sounds good. I'll take a picture and email them *nicely*, when I get the picture I'll try post it here and see what you guys think also. THANKS

My BR 2.5" DP, SST had carbon steel flanges. How about that? It is not as uncommon as you think. Thermal catbacks use CS flanges. Oh, and Buschur uses CS filler metal for his welds too. That will explain why the weld beads are rusting.

I don't know if you can get a 100% SST exhaust system. It is hard to tell since most advertise SST and then you find out they used CS flanges and filler metal. As of now, the only CS in my exhaust in the rear-most flange going into the muffler, the stock Thermal CS flanges. Everything else I have changed over to SST and SST filler through the course of changing stuff around.

I have the same problem with my exhaust from BR the pipe coming out of the muffler to the tip is all rusted! What the hell?

I know man? We pay (in my opinion) top-dollar for something, I expect to get somethin nice, and we have to deal w/this BS? Doesn't make any sense to me, if everyone's exhaust is like that then I it probably won't help emailing BR right? Let me know if anyone else has this problem, thanks.

I bought a borla cat-back, which is not yet rusting. It was fairly expensive, but they guarantee it for the life of your car. Good deal in my opinion

Hm.. haven't heard much about the Borla system? How does it sound/perform?

I wish I would've known this prior to ordering the BR Cat-Back, there are so many other nice choices (Apexi, RNR, etc.) I should of went with one of those companies probably, which just sucks. Hopefully I can get a picture and post it here as well as send it BR and ask them what the hell is going on? I will keep everyone posted.

I mean do you guys think I should just live with it? You guys think its no big deal? I mean I bought it roughly one year ago so if its rusted this bad already how long is this thing gonna last? Winter isn't even over yet! Think I should just paint it and hope it doesn't rust through or contact BR ask them whats going on here..? I don't wanna be a pain in the ass LOL.. Thanks, Erick.

I believe you can go onto the borla site and actually listen to the sound each exhaust produces on each car.

Performance is awesome and it is definately not too loud on the freeway. Very bassy and deep tone at idle and when downshifting.

In other words, I absolutely love it. It is everything you can expect from borla.

Mine cost me about $650 shipped.

Jake

Be careful with those sound clips. Some of them are the same, eventhough they are for different exhaust systems on different cars.
