Crankwalk (Not a Repost!)

I've used the search and I've covered both dsmtuners and dsmtalk and I don't think this has ever come up.

Does CW also occur in 2nd gen cars w/ stock clutches??? Of all the DSMer's that have fallen to CW I've yet to read about someone that suffered from CW and still had their stock clutch.

Also, if CW does affect stock clutches what would you say is the failure rate of owners w/ stock clutches vs. owners w/ aftermarket clutches?

I'm really trying to come up w/ a tangible pattern here. Instead of everyone just saying YES that they had CW.

Something else to keep in mind if stock clutch DSM's are prone to CW do they have the same failure rate as a DSM w/ a aftermarket clutch?

Mine did. Twice. Then I put in an ACT2100 and have been fine since. No that is not the solution but an ironic situation none-the-less.

mine walked with the factory clutch...i don't believe that an aftermarket clutch will cause crankwalk, but it may help it along if you already have it...

mine walked with the stock clutch @ about 80k mi,, I've heard that aftermarket clutches are worse on the crankshaft, but have yet to hear of one that walked with an aftermarket clutch..

80k on stock? wow!

it's actually a pretty small percentage of 2g owners who experience crankwalk.. I'd say if you hadn't noticed it by now, you have nothing to worry about.. of course you could measure and check your crank from time to time:
