I know that there are threads about how to install and what parts you need for the 14b on a 2g, but there are none that tell the performance gain over the t-25. Anyone w/ a 2g that swapped a 14b on, ported or not, what kind of improvments did you see and how did it cut your track time? I was just wondering cause im getting a 14b for cheap and am going to port it out.

g-tech unported 14b
199av. whp T-25 @ 19 psi
234av. whp 14b @ 15 psi

now I am trying to get my timing issues straightened out.

Is that with the gtech radar thingy thats on your dash? How good do those things work? Have you gone to the track yet? Yeah, im planning on porting mine out so it should help alot with the spool up.

porting will increase the spool time, but allow for higher flow. the lag on mine is similar to a t-25, although the boost threshhold for these things was higher enough that I did notice. G-tech claims within 2 hp. mine were each averages over about 10 runs.

I have one on my '95 GSX for the time being. My took took a crap and I got a good deal on the 14B. As far as performance goes, it feels pretty good. The power band is more linear and I can feel more power up top. However, with the install kit, expect to pay around 350-450 all together. I figured it would be a Sat., one day job. It turned into 3 days and my car all over the garage. If I had to do it over, I would go with a T-28 because it's an easy swap. Be prepared to make some ghetto lower IC pipes and bend water pipes. Overall, it was a good experience but I wouldn't want to do it again.

I am getting the 14b for a good price. Im going to port it out while its out of the car and i got a 1g LICP for $12 off of dsmtrader. I still have to order the ss oil feed line and a couple gaskets, but the install shouldnt cost more than $130.
Do you have any track times with it compared to the t-25? I think that i pushed the t-25 to the max for now.

don't buy any of those kits for sure. I made my own for $25-$30 bux and got the turbo for $100. Best investment on the car yet (well, except for anti-sieze! :) ).

for a cheap mod, i don't think a 2g guy can go wrong with a 14b...i wouldn't spend the money on a ss oil feed line, just get a 1g oil feed line and run it from the head...i bought my 14b for about $130 (in VERY good condition) and spent around $30 to make it work...i think this mod has made all of us DIY guys very happy because we got significant gains for under $200...if you plan on paying $350-$450 for it with an install kit, you may just want to buy a used 16g because the gains may not be as gratifying for the price...

10psi on the 14b felt better than 15-16psi on the t-25 plus it holds that to redline...turn it up to 15psi and it'll deffently put a smile on your face...

I'm actually going to be doing this mod this weekend. I got my 14b with only 15K on it for $200.00 (had it checked, it's legit...). The previous owner wound up coking the oil feed lines, so I wound up going with a complete kit from Triple Digit Motorsports. It wound up costing me a little over $300.00, but the new lines, gaskets, J-pipe, and fittings make it all worth while. I am also putting in an XBC so I can limit the boost to 14Lbs. I think that running 16Lbs. with a 24Lb. spike may have lead to my t-25 dying at 165,000 miles.... That or old age. I dunno. All together, this kit is supposed to give me low 13's after I tune and do the fuel pump. I was running low 15's bone stock, and the car is in the 14's now. I'll let everyone know how it does at the track in about two months.

Later,

I did the 14b swap on my car, not much of a difference, to me it wasn't worth the time and money spend( maybe I got a bad 14b) with the T-25 my best time was 14.09, and with the 14b I got a best of 13.9,.
Many people with disagree with me that the swap is a waste of time and money, but I have the numbers to prove. not inpressive at all.

I was running 14.6 at 90 with the t25 and should be able to run 13.8s or so with the 14b (and some fuel mods ;) )
