Oh man! Hi there forum. It's pretty apparent why people say "You should get a turbo DSM!"

My first DSM, which I only purchased 3 months ago was a 1.8. The car I just got is a '93 Talon TSI AWD. I felt that turbo the first time I hit the gas! :D

It has HKS exhaust, intake, electronic boost controller, and turbo timer, and an upgraded 16G. All performance parts done by Archer Performance in Duluth, MN.

Also recently had the timing belt replaced, new brakes, and new KYB shocks!

I was driving home on the factory boost level and I could feel that turbo.
When I turn it up this ride is gonna Kick ass!

I have a few questions (I am a first time turbo owner).

What boost level (highest) is it safe to run at with '93 octane?
If I run at 106 octane when we run it at the track, what it a good level to run it at?

It is an auto so I would like to know is it better to run the car (for normal driving), with the OD off or on?

Thank you for the info!

BTW, I am going to put the '17 3rd Gen rims from my Eclipse on it, pictures will come soon!

wow!! Id like to see a pic with some 17 foot wheels:p

Anyhow, just check out the tuning guide and see where your at. Make sure you have the adequate mods before you go turing the boost up...
Boost levels all depend on what mods you have, and for what you have listed I would not run more than 14psi on my car... I would be getting a fuel pump and some ic piping first and foremost. Anyhow OD is there for fuel efficiency, its bascally a 5th gear (overdrive). Use it, it will give the motor a little rest and give you better gas milage

I appreciate the info guys! This will help a lot. My buddy and I already talked about the fuel pump rewire so that is something that should be done pretty soon. I should check out the tranny upgrades to see how else I can mod this thing up! :D

u'll want a new fuel pump soon, even with the rewire. that 16g is gonna leave you wanting more boost than ur stock fuel system can handle. if you don't have FULL exhaust (exh mani, o2 housing, dp, and cat-back) then you might want to start working on that soon. after you get a fuel pump and exhaust done you can go intercooler piping or FMIC, but you'll have reached the limit of ur stock injectors and will want those and an afc. Turbo tuning is addictive and can get expensive. At least you already have the turbo, intake, and at least cat-back tho I'm not sure cat-back is all u have done exhaust-wise.

congrats on the new car. for daily driving and better gas milage turb OD on and the power button off. (can't remember if the 1g turbo autos have a power button. it may also be called an economy button, in that case turn economy on which turns the power off) The power is always available at the push of a button and you shouldnt lose too much power when set for daily driving.

Welcome to the club! About time you picked up a turbo DSM! You, Jaei and I will have to get together soon for a little tech session on our cars. LMK if you need any help with anything!

You should take it easy on the boost untill it starts to warm up around here. If you are going to up the psi I'd advise getting an EGT gauge and pocket logger if you don't already have one. Every car is a little different and it is tuff to say what would work with your set up. I agree with at least rewiring the fuel pump if it hasn't already been done. Do you know what size injectors you have?

BTW, I can't wait to check out your car! Later

Jimmy! What's up? It is so fun to own a turbo DSM! I really enjoy it. Went and washed the car today, cleaned out the interior REALLY good. It looks very nice. :D

We should get together soon, me, you, and Jaei! It would be fun to talk about DSM's for a bit. I will be going up to Anola this weekend to meet with Tony.
