Well I discovered some shaft play in my turbo (td04: stock in the GST auto), and was planning on a rebuild. A rebuild kit is $100 plus whatever it costs to have balanced (my dad and I can handle the rest of the labor). Is this a good move? I can't afford a major turbo upgrade right now, but should I spend $100-150 more and just buy a used Td05 (stock in the 5-speed, i believe)or 14b? And then polish/port it and my dad's shop at no cost.. I just hate to put money into the pathetic td04. What do you think?

get the td05 14b it is a good turbo for what size they are. they can be had for real cheap too.

this is true but i would still go with the 14b there are good deals out there you just have to look for them.
