place to go for lower IC pipe from SMIC to FP BigT28?

I have a Hahn racecraft SMIC and a FP Big T28 turbo. I'm going to stick with that setup for the time being. I want to replace the stock rubber hose intercooler pipe with a hard pipe. I have the complete upper Hahn racecraft intercooler set but don't want to spend $100 just for the single lower IC pipe. Anyone have some suggestions on another vendor to go thru?

Option #1: does your Hahn side mount have the same approximate dimensions as the stock SMI? If so, just check ebay for an aluminum piece. In this situation, a pipe is a pipe (so long as you get it made from the correct material, it's not like an ebay turbo (taking a risky chance) or something. So long as you don't care about having to have a brand name on all your pieces, I would say just check ebay. Estimate of around $30-40

Option #2: Go to your local exhaust shop and have them bend you a pipe. That j-pipe doesn't have an extreme bend, so you should be able to have one made of steel, although it will be a little heavier. If you go this route, I would suggest having the shop weld an exhaust hanger on the j-pipe to the crossmember (because of the added weight). Estimate of around $75-100

I've personally gone both routes, and they both have worked well. No matter which route you do, however, I would highly suggest (if you havn't installed these yet) using 3-4 ply silicone couplers. The lower intercooler pipe gets the blunt of all the best exiting the compressor side of the turbo, so you wanna make sure it's tight on there Good luck!!

The Hahn SMIC does share the same dimensions as the stock smic as far as inlet and outlet diameter which is why I balk at the RRE lower intercooler pipe. As it sits my lower IC rubber pipe doesn't have any changes in diameter to it. What is the stock rubber IC pipe inner diameter? I might be very interested in that Buschur racing lower IC pipe! Wish I could find one made out of aluminum.

The stock intercooler in and out is 2 inches. I would think the hahn smic in and out would at least be 2.25 or 2.5......The i.d of the rubber lower pipe is 2 inches.

Heres my lower 2.5 lower pipe I fabbed up myself. (mkiv sidemount has 2.5 in and 2.5 out)

sounds kinda dinky. What is the I.D. on most of these FMICs?

Well most FMIC use 2.5 inch piping (thats O.D)... My 2.5 piping and proubably many 2.5 inch piping I.D is close 2.35.

My FMIC J-pipe on my T28 is 2" O.D., or 1.875" I.D.
Its about the length of a stock lower I.C. pipe, around 18" or so.
I have no problems making 400 h.p. with it.

Just looking for the lower hard pipe. The T28 is stock routing so the elbow on it points towards the stock smic location.
