Anything special that I should when taking all my EGR stuff out.

Took everything out other than the EGR Valve which will come out tomarrow. when I make the block off plate.

Yep took care of all that .

Take out a lot to clutter under the hood.

I will get rid of the canister later too.

why exactly would you do that, wouldnt that cause a rough idle??

Just getting rid of thing under the hood that i wouldn't use or don't needed.

Putting in cams very soon here so the idle part not an issue.

Plus i notice no diff in idle at all.

so does it have any benifits, im rebuildin my motor right now and while everything is apart it would be easy to do

I don't see a great benifit.

But it's nice to get rid of all those vaccum hose that you don't need.

plus I use the remve the EGR temp swicth that next to the Thermo Stat and use it for my Greddy Water temp gauge.

i don't trust the stock Boost, Water temp and Oil pressure gauges any more.

IMO the combustion chambers/pistons/plugs carbon up badly on these things - by NOT recirculating exhaust gas back into the intake I'd like to think it helps reduce this carbonizing. Deleting it COULD remove a little heat from the intake IF when you had the intake off you plugged the EGR port right at the head - which would definitely take some heat off the intake. I've heard of guys deleting the coolant circuit in the intake manifold once they eliminate the EGR but then they say it adversely affects the throttle body functions dependent on temps. Eliminating some potential vaccuumn leaks & decluttering certainly helps.

Excellent idea for utilizing the free thermo-port.

I'm looking at relocating the battery lower in the engine bay once the canister is gone - that would help engine bay access also - seems like everything I do involves pulling the battery or radiator for access on this thing - you'll probably pull the battery for access to the EGR anyway.

I recently removed all the emissions lines and by passed the pcv, i wish i did it along time ago. I havent had any problems with anyting, i think my cars runnin better but most of all it looks much better under the hood. Im also goin to make some custom brackets for my battery, and drop it down and move some other things around to make some more room.:dsm:

There's an excellent thread at DSMtalk about how to remove all the emisssions-related vacuum hoses and such. I intend to do this pretty soon myself.

I've already unhooked the breather hose and PCV hose from the intake and removed the hoses from the fuel pressure solenoid. It's already starting to look better under the hood. One other possible advantage people point out is that if you remove all those hoses, there's fewer places for vacuum leaks to occur.

pcv is important, that is the one thing you would want to keep, the big draggers run a hose to the exhust manifold with a one way valve, having a vacume in the crankcase is good.

With a gutted pcv it will vent any pressure heat whatever, ten times better, when u acctually take that thing out and start drillin u will c how little the passages r in there, after u gut it if will flow much much better. :dsm:

Greatest benefit...Less vacuum leaks to chase.
