I've been helping a buddy with his 1st gen and was wondering how you can tell if your over running the mas. We took out the lower honeycombs but we're kind of hesitant to start hacking it. The car has a 16g @ 16psi ,550's, walbro, afc, exhaust, gauges, k&n, afpr, and I think that's it. We're looking to run about 18-19 psi. Should we hack it a little or is it good.

You want a datalogger. Once you have one, it will be obvious when you hit overrun.

In fact, you'll want a logger anyway so you can watch knock and timing, especially if you're starting to push things a bit.

Damn my bad, i read it again. I got the 250 thing from where it was talking abotu 450cc maxing out and the fuel pump maxing out a 250 at the wheels or something like that. I read it wrong. sorry for the mixup there..

I got pretty much the same setup except I'm running an 18g turbo at 18psi. I actually just discovered that the problems I had was MAS overrun. The easiest way to see if your overruning the MAS is to put your AFC in graphical mode and watch the line that measures airflow (Hz), if it goes all up and down like a richter scale at WOT then your overruning the MAS. Mine went up to 1800Hz then down to 300Hz all within a split second and would do it up until redline. Also if your 02's start running lean at higher RPM's even though your AFC settings are somewhat rich. When I was overrunning the MAS over 6k RPM my 02's would dip down below 0.70v even as low as 0.20v, no good at all. All that does is cause knock and then your timing gets yanked.

I have a 2g MAS coming next week, that should fix the problem.

..by the way, my MAS has the lower honeycomb removed and screw backed out.
