Way back when i didn't know to much about my car and turbo cars in general i got a local exhaust shop to build me a catback exhaust.

mistake #1 I let the owner of the shop talk me out of 3inch because he said that i didn't have the Cubic Inches to need 3inch pipes and that turbo cars need back pressure:rolleyes: (i believed him at the time).

mistake#2 it is a pressbent exhaust:rolleyes:

possible mistake #3 When i picked my car up he told me that he couldn't fit the new muffler in the stock location so he had to bolt a different muffler directly to my cat. The next day i put my car on a hoist and examined what he did...and sure enough directly bolted to my cat is what looks to be a giant resonatorOMG

Now I guess my question is, Having my "muffler" bolted to the cat hurt my preformance???

no, but its going to hurt YOU when the exaust fumes get ya... that guy at the exaust shop should fix it propperly for free, thats totally illegal to have it setup like that and its especially illegal for him to let it out of the shop like that.

The exhaust doesn't end after the "muffler" it still goes all the way out the back.

Thats what i'm wondering, if the exhaust gas still has to flow through all the piping after going through the "muffler", will this hurt preformance?

no, there shouldnt be.... im sure that someone could come up with some crazy theory on how it could drop 1 horse due to loss of volumetric efficiency or something.... but i doubt it would really matter. it really surprises me that they made it like that... hope you dont have problems with boiling carpets or your cat cooling down to much and screwing up.

I've had it for awhile and no problems so far.

I was just thinking that sinch the muffler must cool down the exhaust gas then it still has to flow down all the piping that it would flow at a slower rate? heh i dunno

It does sound awsome though since the sound has all that time to resonate off the piping...really deep growl...

but you should prolly look into a 3 incher mandrel bent. being smaller and press bent hurt your ability to flow. turbo cars dont need back pressure. the turbo provides all the back pressure needed. I cant think of anything wrong with the muffler/resonator bolted the cat except that you might want to get one less restrictive depending on the size of it.
