Hello, my name is ryan, and im putting a 4g63 engine into my 92 eclipse, its currently a 1.8 auto. I know all about the factors of what it cost and im set on doing this. Now i will be doing this myself, and i have a friend that can get me an engine for 600 bucks so if i put it in myself, which i will have a professional helping me, this would be a considerable upgrade for the buck. I was wanting some help as to what other parts i would need. I know about axeles, the ecm, exhaust, but what about other link parts for the turbo, like vaccum, and other electronic stuff. if anyone has done this, there help would be great, so i can be prepared when the engine gets here. Thank You...........

save yourself the time and aggrivation of doing the swap and just sell your 1.8. you could buy a turbo model and have the benefits of awd for less than the swap. besides, what kind of shape do you think a 600 dollar motor would be in?

is anyone willing to help me besides driving me away from what i want to do..... i know about this stuff already....

get out your 5 lb sledge and make that 4g63 fit... hope you didnt bash all of the wire looms out- you'll need a 4g63 92 model harness.... youll also want to cut holes in your firewall for that master cylender and shifter cables. as far as your whole throttle system, im pretty sure its gotta be converted too. good luck making the IC fit too. the radiator might even be different... even the oil cooling system might be different (if it even has one).... did i mention your going to have to modify your engine compartment with a sledge hammer? LOL... that 1g mas and all of that stuff has to fit too. not sure if the sending units on the 2 motors will work correctly when swapped... or if youll have any instrumentation at all.

sorry buddy, but i left out tons of things that you'll need... you might as well just make a tube frame front end for your car, that would probably be easier than putting a 4g63 in a 1.8 bay... i know i yell at people for downing the auto/manual conversion, but this swap truely is a nightmare. i was able to pick up a 90 fwd car for 300 bucks, im sure you could do the same.

anyway, if your really that content, just get after it, DO IT FOO! thats how things get done in this world, ill shut up now.

ohh, if you run into any problems, give me a shout, ill do my best to help.

I'd have to agree with some of the other people who've replied, after i finished building a turbo engine and putting it in my Esi, it really would have been easier and cheaper to have sold the car and bought a car with a stock turbo. I'm glad i did what i did, but for all the headaches and the bloody knuckles, you may want to reconsider your plan.
