I bought my ATR 3" o2 Eliminator DP from Victory Performance a little over a month ago i would think, and it already has a crack about an inch long on the top of the o2 housing...

I can't believe it... this sucks :(

One other thing... these things seem to each be slightly different from the other... as in.. on mine i had more room for the top 2 bolts, but no room for the bottom 2... on my friends we had more for the bottom 2.. and less for the top rear...

Also his, with 3 out of 4 bolts on, doesn't leak... mine has never stopped leaking.

I shoulda sent it back a long time ago.

This prolly wasn't the right forum for this.. but i was pissed and needed to vent.. sorry :(

I am pretty sure the ATR 3" 02 elim downpipes don't have flex sections. This is probably the cause of your downpipe cracking after a month.

You are right. They do not have a flex-section.

All i have is a DP... not a full exhaust. So i doubt that would be the reason...

That is what we are trying to say. There is suppost to be a flex section in your downpipe to prevent cracking. This is why we use the large SS braided flex section so that your downpipe will last a long time.

In the last couple months I've heard from several people that they have had their stainless o2 housings crack. I've said this a million times, SS expands at about twice the rate of mild steel. Using stainless at the hottest section or your exhaust is just begging for cracks. Leave the SS for I/C pipes and cat backs.

Which is funny, because the only reason i bought it was because i heard it was stronger..

Hell if i care how pretty it is.

IMO, u should send it back, get your money for it and call up RnR Racing and get their o2 eliminator dp. I have it on my car and I love it.

I dont know if i could get my money back for it now.. considering i've had it for a month...

Stainless if made from the wrong material or not welded properly will crack yes. If you make it properly however it will not. The problems most of the time is the material used is 304SS which will not as Kevin said hold up to the heat. However....

The reason yours cracked it sounds like was not from heat, it's because of lack of a flex section. I have a SS (304 I might add which is crappy SS) O2 eliminator housing on my car for 3 years and it has never cracked but it does have a flex section.

The o2 housings that are made stainless need to be made form 321 and welded with 342 then ceramic coated. They would last in that case and never crack.

Thalomos what you should do is call victory or ATR directly and tell them what happened and see what they can do. I'm sure not all their products are like that and you got one that was just not right. I have delt with them before on different matters and they were good over the phone.
