I was tinking about buying the complete engine rebuild kit from machV but i have never heard of the topline brand......does anyone know anything about the brand and/or the quality of the kit.....thanks alot.......blake

mach v, slowboy and a few other places get there rebuild kits from topline... this is a decent brand and good for a factory spec rebuild ... don't expect the engine to be a $20,000 Rau built race engine because you did it yourself for less. basically you get what you pay for. i have used this kit in one of my fwd turbo cars and it held up well, but i did not race the car or up the boost ... hell, the car was stock and was a daily driver to get me to work and back.

"from my understanding topline buy all their part from the original oem manufacturer in japan! the oil pump , pistons and rings, water pump are oem from japan!"

can any one verify this? it seems strange to me taht you could get oem parts for so cheep.

Topline Has 5 Warehouses/Machine Shops/Factories in the US. There parts are decent quality, as stated above, they are a "stock" rebuild. We know that our engine components are pretty stout and the kits are pretty decent. The head gaskets are just a felt replacement. The front covers and water pumps are pretty good as well.

90% of the front covers are made in New Zealand.

Pistons and Rings are made in Chicago and Boston.

Water pumps are rebuilt from all over.

Well, you got lied to. Take a look at an OEM pump from Mitsu, and a Topline. Hell, take a look at a Federal Mogul pump and Topline, it's plainly visible that it is inferior.

dont ever buy a remanufactured water pump...EVER! unless you only want to sell the car so someone else can drive it fifteen feet and have it go out.(i'm speaking from experience:mad: )
ask any mechanic, any real mechanic and they will undoughtedly agree.

so then can you use topline rings in the factory pistons and vice versa?
so in your opinion how are they compaired to the oem pistons and rings?

My rebuilt waterpump has about 10,000 miles on it and it works great.

whitch kind of ring is better, moly faced rings or the oem cast ring.
and do they fit eachother

i live my life like any other guy, 1/4 pounder at a time. as for the water pump, look on the iner side and you should be able to see old fracture lines, and they wont be on the front, in some portion of the pump it might be odd colored compaired to the rest of the pump. Mine was chared black and i only knew it was rebuilt, cause the guy told me it had to be when the motor was rebuilt. plus if you let a rebuild sit for an extended period of time, expect leaks:thumb: !
