18g turbo

i have a 91 Eclipse GS, and i blew the turbo about 3 months ago, well i figure since i have to get down there and take the damn thing off i might as well upgrade while im down there...and i need some expert DSM advise on what the biggest turbo i can get without hurting or blowing my entirely stock motor, i was thinking either a Big 16g ported and clipped, or an 18g, would the 18g be too much?? any feedback would be greatly appreciated

anything bigger than the 16g without supporting mods (injectors,fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator,some sort of fuel controller,exhaust,intake) is too much and will destroy your engine.

a little exagerative here? haha

seriously though, the size of the turbo isnt going to destroy your engine. Hell you could run a 20G on it if you wanted to as long as you keep the boost down but without proper supporting mods upgrading your turbo is pointless IMHO

yes,it was a bit exagerated. i was just trying to put a little fear into him about putting a big turbo on his car with knowing what he was doing.

yea if you put a larger turbo on just keep the boost real low.

I ran 12.6 on a 20g and stock injectors/no fuel control Just get a 20g and then build your setup around that slowly but surely....at 15 psi a Y2K wouldn't hurt your engine

I agree, this way you waste no money in upgrading turbos later on
