During a pull my oil plug blew out. Before I knew thats what had happened my car shut off. I noticed my oil pressure was pegged at the bottom. I pull over and sure enough the oil drain plug is missing. I drove about a mile after I heard it blow out. The car won't start.
Is my motor blown or do our cars have a fail safe feature that shuts the car off if oil pressure gets too low?
I wont be able to put oil in the car and replace the plug until stores open this morning.

Was it tightened or not? Cross-threaded?
