Im looking for info on any kind of blow off valve someone has experience with and would recommend. i was gonna save a few bucks and buy a brand new 1g valve. Now im thinking of a TurboXS but havent heard any comments on it. If anybody has a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated. thanks...:dsm: 's rule

i like the hks ssqv bov. it is a pull type bov so leaking is not gonna happen. just my opinion.

and it sounds bad ass, but you are not gonna vent it anyway

Have you asked yourself the question "what is my ultimate goal with my car"? If you want to autocross then pretty much any aftermarket BOV should be able to hold that much psi, but if your goal is running 11's or faster then I would consider going with a BOV with a much stronger spring to be able to hold that much psi. HKS, Greddy, and Tail make good racing BOVs but most of them don't recerculate back into your intake and you'll be running a little rich in the middle of an upshift.

I'm also running the HKS SSQ BOV and it is loud as a mother f#cker. I scare people driving next to me all the time even when I'm not going into boost too far. I did notice a little change in the middle of shifting though.

do you have it recirculating or venting?

the hks has a recirculation kit........dont post stuff you dont know about

i am not upset, but you gotta realize people go by what they are reading on this board, whether it is true or false. if you are not 100% sure dont post it

I had my hks vented for a while then i decided I didn't want the cool sound so i spent 50$ for their stupid recir. kit (wasn't worth it but what could i do) and just last week i found out my bov hasn't been working...I'm hoping hks will give me a new one so i can exchange it for a Greddy.
O yea, the HKS bov is weak rerouted back into the intake. All it sounds like is compressor surge.

I had the TurboXS type H for awhile and had it venting to atmosphere...it was really nice and loud made people look around all the time...i sold it becuase it was messing with my idle causing the car to die and it was running rich

some good info. i dont like the negative info cause it makes me afraid of trying something out. im gonna go take a look at an hks cause it seems to have some good reviews. and im a big hks fan. though im lookin to plumb it back into my intake. thanks alot.:dsm:'s rule

and to Slow99x, im lookin to make a streetable drag car. nothing bigger then a big 16g or T28. i wanna run 12's when i go to the track, but keep a good drivable car. thats one reason i picked a :dsm: , thier pimp.:thumb:

Does a Crushed 1g BOV sound like the 2g Stock BOV? I have a stock BOV on my car and it still turns heads.

I didn't mean to get you thinking that you can't run a 9 second DSM on the street, you sure can, but there are drivability sacrifices you will make for that type of power. I only ment that a very high HP car won't drive as smooth as a more stock car. There are always compromises in the world of tuning.

No.

I was very happy with the 1G stocker (it sounds pretty impressive with a metal UIP and intake pipe). IMHO: Unless you plan on running 20+psi, the only reason to get any other BOV is for the sound/look.

Or you could use a modded 1g BOV that works for street and strip use.

Like this:

This has held 24 psi for me at the track without leaking.

I have ran a Turbo XS Type-H for a year and it has held boost fine, but I cannot vent it back to the intake and finally got all my parts together for my new IC setup and piping and I will be switching to a 1st gen bov. Which will be vented back into the intake, and on a side note it still makes noise vented back into the intake if thats what you are worried about. I am personally sick of my Turbo XS its gotten annoying over time....

I have the TurboXS Type H34, which is just like the RFL except that this one recirculates. It performs flawlessly-- the only thing is that at highway speeds above 80, it tends to whistle a lot. It gets on your nerves after a while. Around town, though, I love the sound of it.
