Hey guys,
I have a quick question.
Im looking at buy a 99 gsx it has a typs S bov on it. When I was driving the car it seemed that the clutch was slipping. The guy said it was the bov not set the currect way.
I thought that was really weird I have never heard of anything like that. So we got back he adjusted the bov and it did not seem to slip again.
Has anyone heard of anything like this?

Thanks

In 4th gear I would accelerate, the rpms would rise by 3-4 hundred rpms and then the car would go.
But after adjusting the bov it did not do that again.
I have never seen anything like this before.

The only thing I can think of is he adjusted the BOV looser, causing some sort of leak and therefore pushing less boost and less power = no slipping clutch. WTF

That would make some sense.

I would watch the boost gauge and see what its reading.

If the clutch is slipping, the clutch is slipping! Does this seller know his cars?

Well I bought the car. I have not picked it up yet though.
I was wondering when I do change the clutch what clutch should I go with.
My 1st gen has the act 2600 with fidanza flywheel.
I have read a few things that say the 2600 is two much for the 7 bolt and other things that say it does not matter.
What I would like it a clutch that is close to the 2600 with out the leg breaking pedal pressure and the stress on the crank.
Do any of you have any suggestions?
I have looked at spec and cf some.
Any other thoughts on flywheels?

I would say if youre not planning on over 400 ft lbs, just go with an ACT 2100 or silmilar setup.
I have a brand new ACT 2100 setup in the classifieds. If youre interested, PM me.

As for flywheels, lots of people go Fidanza or ACT.

Is act 2100 good for 400hp at the wheels?
That is my long term goal for this car?

I have the fidanza now in my 1st gen and if I push the chutch in to fast the rpms fall to quickly and the car shuts off.
Do you know if the act streetlite is the same way or not as bad?

A bov it is some thing NOS where it adds a 100hp. In no way does the BOV give power for the clutch to slip. It only blow off the turbo boost pressure. Find someone that know what he's talk about.

A blow off valve will not affect the amount of power a car outputs. It only blows off air, hence the name. And as far as your clutch question, a 2100 could probably work, I would consider a 2600 though to be safe. If your talking a long term goal, idk what long term is to you but maybe use the 2100 now and upgrade to a 2600 later after you start to wear this one out to retain better or easier driveability.
