i am going to do a timing belt change. i am doing everything that goes along with it. my cams are pretty nasty looking and i was going to buy new ones. since i am at it, can i buy bigger cams. something like AEM cams. i know i won't see big improvements (i have read posts about this), but i wanna know if it will hurt anything. i just don't wanna get new ones now, then later have to upgrade.

second: is there an accuracy diff in electric gauges to mechanical gauges. i am getting a fuel pressure gauge and the mechanical is ALOT cheaper.

thanks.:D

Well if your worried about upgrading later and losing money in the long run you might as well build a bad ass head :thumb: Ofcourse your goals in the future may not even require cams or any kind of aftermarket components in the head to get there, so make sure you know what you want before you go out and buy em...cause they are quite expensive. If you do want some though, I know Mike@http://www.slowboyracing.com has a bunch of HKS's in stock. Cams will not hurt anything but comfortability/convience.. idle and gas milage may suffer depending an what you go with but who cares anyway right? The most popular cam choice for 4g63's seems to be HKS's, but crowers and webs are also very popular.

From what I have noticed with my last 3 cars is that all the mechanicals seem to be a bit more responsive. I like them cause they are cheap, cheaper to fix, work great and are more responsive. However I wouldnt recommend putting a mechanical fuel pressure line in your cabin. I think you should either get a t fitting and tap into the fuel filter or get a an electrical for that cabin. Good luck:thumb:

thanks. what about cam gears? what's a good set to go with. i know i maybe jumping ahead on doing things, but i would rather get them all done while i am at it, instead of having to take things apart to upgrade later.

Just so you know, cam performance is an area that you're unlikely to find two people who agree on. Some people have had good luck with brand "X", while some people have had good luck with brand "Y." I have had good luck with HKS products in general, but no experience with their cams. Good luck.
