i have a 1g non-turbo.i wanna know if i can put a 1g turbo head setup on it and will it work.i wanna push a kinda high boost like 18 psi to 20psi.i would be building this head the whole way.cams, valves and so forth.i heard something about lack of oil to the pistons on the non-turbo block.i have a chance to get this head cheep so i wanna know.if i can get it to work i wanna put the head on and beef out the turbo system using the nt block.thanx for the help.:thumb:

I don't quite understand the whole running 18psi on a NT or beefing the turbo on a NT block, might want to clarify that for us. But to answer the main question...the 1G turbo and NT heads are identical. The only difference is that the turbo cars with manual trannies had a *slightly* larger intake cam. Turbo AT cars had the same cams as the non-turbo.

ok basically, how much boost can the bottom end that i have handle without blowing.i wanna run a turbo setup and i want to know f the bottom ends are basically the same except for the compression ratio.i can put different cams in and slightly bigger valves(nothing severe).since i now know the heads are the same,if i put together a turbo setup the would be made to fit a turbo model, can i bolt it up to this bottom end and not have to worry about it blowing up.basically i wanna keep the block and head and rebuild everything turbo.i would be rebuilding the bottom end with a different compression ratio, stronger rods, knife edged crank also.

You actually want a tubo short block cuz the turbo blocks have oilers in them to keep the pistons cooler. If you can find one of those cheap your in better business. As far as the NA goes, if you still wanna use it a beefier bottom end is a must, and your goals are not impossible just be sure you have the equipment to manage the turbo.

thanx for the help.i was tryin to find out about the oilers i just couldnt rmember what the were called.im still kinda new at this stuff but im gonna try with the whole turbo motor and just go from there.
