Hey all,

I recently converted my internally gated evo316g over to an external setup by purchasing an external waste gate flanged o2 sensor housing that recircs back into the exhaust. I am unable to remove the old internal wastegate flapper because of the hole in the exhaust housing it would leave, so I was forced to leave it hang free. However, it's making a lot of noise and jiggling at idle so I wanted to know what I could do.

I found another article that sort of answers this question but it's for a manifold flanged for a waste gate, not the o2 housing. So welding it shut would not work.

Remove the flapper, weld the little hole shut, port the shit out of the wastegate path, wouldn't hurt to port the inlet to make the transition to the wastegate path easier.

i went with a hacker method which is what you probably want to do of you are not getting creep and do not want to disassemle again. hammer, twist or whatever the flapper am againt the housing so it holds the door open. takes 2 min and will stop the noise.
