I cant get this off engine. HELP! Harmonic Balancer

I cant seem to get the harmonic balancer off the six bolt block. I want to get the crankshaft out but I cant even remove the cover untill I get that off. Please help! You know what I mean? The part that connects to the crankshaft that the timing belt goes over?! Thanks

Uh...take off the four bolts on the outside and the big center one that hold it on. If it still doesn't come off tap it with a soft face mallet.

If the motor is out of the car, then use a harmonic balancer puller.

i thought u only had to use the removal tool for the 2g's....mine just pulled off on my 1g.

Sorry, I mean the part UNDER the harmonic balancer. The one that the timing belt runs on.

I tried using the harmonic balancer puller and it STILL wont come off!

Any other ideas?!?

yeah, the engine is out on a stand. I dont have any pics right now of it though...

well try some penatratin oil or however u spell it spray is it in all the tight spots try the harmonic balancer remover tool if still doesnt work use the mallet boostindsm was talkin bout but cuz its soft face mallet dont whale it as hard as u can but hard enoughg to just move it

Did you remove the nut that holds the crank pulley on. Once the nut is off a gear puller should work unless the keyway and pulley are rusted up.

are you talking about the crank pulley or the timing gear if your talking about the timing gear that has the timing belt on it you need a flat pry tool and you have to gently work it off
