Biggest turbo...without internals???

Well I didnt really know how to word this because I didnt want to break the guidelines of posting a thread about turbos. Really what I want to know is this. I was just planning to go with a fpbig28/agpt28. Now I got an unexpected quite large check for x-mas and am thinking maybe I should go bigger. You can see my mods so far in my profile, I also have 550cc injectors on the way and 255hp walbro fuel pump and a ported 2g manifold. I also plan on getting some sort of fmic but dont know just yet which one. What I want to know is what is the biggest I can go without internals and those mods. I was thinking maybe FP Green or AGP L1R but I dunno if those are to big and I should just go with a 18g or 20g. Also I'm looking for an internally gated turbo, wont go to an external setup until next winter. I am looking to get into the mid 12's maybe low 12's, with an estimated 320hp to the wheels. Let me know what is possible with what. Just need some ideas of what will work without blowing my motor. Thanks
 
or should I just stay with something small like the fpbig28 and a nice fmic then save up for a l2r and full external setup next winter.
 
it really depends on your goals.. I personally dont see you hitting low 12s with a Big28 style turbo.. mid 12s maybe with great driving and race gas.

With larger turbos though you require more of everything.. more fuel meaning larger injectors.. a better type of engine management.. and ALOT more tuning.
 
Mr l3r runs 100% fine on a stock motor. Its all in the tooning yo.

I say get an l3r or if you want internal, get an internally gated l2r. Those would be tight!
 
I know of a 2G running mid 11s on a Green with stock internals. And a 2G running low, low 11s (may have even hit 10s by now) on a Red with stock internals, but the car with the Red did eventually blow a rod through the pan (probably from nitrous though). A Green should be OK on stock internals. Anything bigger might be pushing it, but do you need bigger than a Green, probably not.

Once they spin a bearing or break a rod and the engine goes to holy hell i think it would be a better idea to go with forged internals rather than risk it going THAT fast...
 
Well considering your have a 2G don't even think about building up that motor it will never last. Once they are taken appart they are crankwalk prone soooo bad it's just not worth it.

Run a big turbo now and if you pop your motor buy a cyclone motor and put some pistons and rods in that and you'll be good for 600+ hp on that motor..

Your tranny now is a totally different story. over 350WHP and your gonna be smokin trannys. You will either need to weld the diff or buy a quaife or whatever. Even then your gears eventually let go and your in trouble again. But that's for 450-500hp later on..
 
why don't you look into a T3/T4 set up?? there's tons of great deal on the net right now for a full set up...the best part is, if you want more, you can just buy a bigger turbo at about a third of the cost of the mitsu set ups...

that's what i'm doing....it's cheaper in the olong run...i'm starting with a 50 trim and if i want to go bigger i already have everything that i need to do it without wastegates and manifolds and custom O2 housings...just my 2 cents....:dsm:
