Help!!! Greddy Type-s No Sound

Hey guys...

I just bought Upper and Lower I/C piping with the the greddy type-s bov. It was installed professionaly and im a lil pissed. My list of modifications is bellow which is not any at all.

Modifications:
NGK BPR7ES spark plugs
Greddy Upper and Lower I/C piping
Greddy Type-S BOV
*STOCK TURBO*

Well what I'm mad and curious about is that i am running a stock turbo and stock boost @ 10psi. When i installed the BOV i thought that i would hear that loud dog whistle noise. But after driving around i never heard it and was curious if the reason there is no sound to it is because im not running enough boost or maybe something is messed up. If anyone could please tell me whats wrong and why there is no sound. I'm afraid maybe its not releasing the pressure so it might screw stuff up. Can someone please tell me what wrong and if they know can they tell me how to fix it or how to atleast get some sound.

if you don't have an open air filter or an intake, you won't hear it that loud. IF your car is bucking when you let off the throttle, then the valve might not be opening and you might be geting compressor surge.


Also, stock psi on the 2g's is 12. Do you have a boost guage, or are you going by the stock one?
 
mines plumbed back in and it's loud enough. If you vent to the atmosphere, you will most likely have idle problems and run rich when you shift
 
well first get it to work right, like the guys before said it might not be releasing air. Try adjusting it and see what happens

If u care about the "pssshh" sound enough go and buy a stainless pipe, i think its 1.25" and about 5 or 6 inches long, and replace the section of rubber hose that vents the air back to the intake. Make sure u use rubber connectors( just cut the left over hose from the section u just replaced) to hold the piping on. Then u will still be venting back into the intake, but it will sound like u are venting to the atmosphere....:thumb:

his will most definately idle poorly, but if your car is tuned properly you will have no problems...
 
I think you should get the intake and sell your greddy bov. Give GoFastBits hybrid bov a try.
 
Bringing back an old thread from the grave.

I just recently installed a greddy type-s bov in the car.

mods in my profile is current.

The blow off valve is recirculated and I cant hear any sounds off of it.

When its vented, you can barely hear it and it has an idle surge, thats why i recirculated.

What do i need to do to make it whisle? or aleast any sound when its recirculated? Do i adjust it hard or soft?

Ok the softer you go on those the more you get the signiture sound out of it. If you tighten it to much it just sounds like a regular bov. Keep loostening it until you get it right. I have mine unrec. and my air/fuel ratio does just fine and i get a crazy loud noise from mine. All i have is the cone and 3in exhaust. I also boost 16 pounds though. Try looking at the free mods on this website and getting that little bit of extra boost will make the bov whistle. p.s. i have no idle problems at all. just plug that hose that ussually hooks up with the bov with a rag and tighten the clamp on the rag. Looks bad but works fine.
 
ill be lossenning tomorrow, and ill let you guys know what happened.

If i vent the bov, the car idles crazy and when slowing down it'll die. Thats why i think its better recirculated.

how come everytime its on a cirtain rpm, the car sputters and wont go up anymore?

is it the UICP or the recirculation hose? imma give the pipe thing a try.
 
Did you plug the intake hole where the recirc pipe connects? Is it the true greddy type s bov? I had two different bov very similar to the greddy type s bov. The knock off greddy from ebay and the dejon type s bov. They all look identical but sound way different. The knock offs barely had any sound, even with with not recirculated. I finaly got the real greddy type s and decided to try it not recirculated and you can hear that thing blocks away. Even when I shift at 3,000 rpms its super loud. Sounds sweet. I recently put the boost back to stock, and the recirc tube back on for you can get pulled over with a loud bov. Even with the recirc tube on and stock boost its still loud. My guess would be that you have a boost leak. Have you opened up the bov and cleaned it out, check out the diaphram and springs. Good luck.

Where did you hear stock boost is 12 psi? I thought it was 8-10 psi. I just put it back to stock psi and it reads 8 psi on my boost gauge. Huh, I might have a boost leak then.
 
How can i find out if i have a real one? The greddy sign on the side has been shaved and i can see lines from the sand paper. the top thats supposed to be purple has been painted black. the guy i got it off of said it was real. but im not sure if it is.
