I just finished up my entire oil cooler setup, and was wondering if you guys could post some pictures of your own. Id love to get some ideas. Ill throw some pictures of mine up here in the morning.

I actually bought this one from a friend of mine locally, but he built it from parts. I had a different setup before that was designed for a 90 housing, and i ugpraded to this for the larger cooler and the remote filter. It is possible to do a remote filter with a 90 setup, but i like the packaging on this.

Here is a good spot to get some of the parts, good prices & service as well.

project_tsi, that is nice! My thoughts of it are exactly how you described it, QUICK, SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE!

Is that stock oil filter housing? You just changed the fittings and routed the lines to the cooler? As simple as it looks?

Yeah, its a oem 1990 air/air cooled filter housing. I removed the stock fittings and used the metric m18 IIRC to -8 adapters. Then screwed on 2 straight -8 pushlock fittings. I used 250 psi rated EARLS superstock hose.

I'm trying to figure out how you 2G guys fit an oil cooler to the drivers side of the bumper area with a fmic. None of you are autos right? I'm running two oil coolers in series, and there was no possible way to fit even a stock bar/plate oil cooler back in the stock location without cutting the frame. How can it be diff for m/t?

Yeah no kidding, like I said I have two coolers. Thing is, with my fmic the licp runs right through the stock location so it can't fit facing forward in the same spot because of the frame. It looks like you don't have a licp in the same location as me so that's probably it in your case.

I have a pic of what I'm talking about when I installed my two coolers and I'll post it when I get off work.

I fit a oil cooler I think an inch bigger than pictured above in both my 2g driver side and u know one is auto and one is manual. I had to remove the tranny cooler on the auto and I put a bigger tranny cooler in front of my radiator. :)

Yeah that's what I figured, it's diff for an auto. Because I know for a fact after I installed the fmic my tranny cooler had to be relocated. I moved it in the driver's fenderwell. And like you I put an aftermarket one in front of my radiator. Then I connected them in series.

But, I'm going to eliminate all my hardlines and put one big beefy cooler with a spal fan in my passenger side where the smic went. Maybe a cooler half the size and thickness of the stock smic. I think that's the best way to do it for the best cooling for an auto.

Its been raining everyday, so getting a pic is going to be hard. Once it clears up ill post mine up here... My cooler is pretty big, and im running -8 lines as well. I need to find a way to mount the cooler directly in the bumper hole, for maximum cooling.

Since were on the Oil Filter Housing / Oil cooler subject, my oil pressure sending unit "tab" broke off. Anyone know where / how much $ i can get another one for? Id like to get a new unit, not a used one...

Yeah those things are shitty in the first place. You're talking about the idiot light sender right? I would assume you could get it from a mitsu dealer for a modest cost. Check www.mistubishiparts.com

My oil filter housing looks ridiculous. 2 -12AN lines coming out for the cooler, 3 gauge senders, 1 idiot light sender, and the turbo feed line.

Has anyone here have an opinion of the Greddy "grex" oil cooler? I got the Greddy one w/ -10 an fittings and a B&M w/-6 an lines. I had both setup at once and mounting wasn't an issue. But, now I am going to use the greddy oil cooler w/ the 1990 oil filter housing. It seems to mount better than the B&M cooler(it is set at an angle on the drivers side). Well, its cool to see what you guys got. I know there are alot of great oil coolers out there and am curious to see how you got them hooked up. =)

The greddy one is just an overpriced U-Haul unit. Nothing special. Just BLUE! OMG! IT'S BLUE!! PUT SOME UNDERGLOW NEONS ON IT!!

I will never buy Greddy TRASH ever again.

Wow, whats up with all the greddy hated? I got the cooler for my gsx 3 years ago. It came with the adapter to hook it up directly to the oil filter bracket. I have never had a problem with any of my greddy stuff.

I do not TRUST (yes, pun intended) Greddy products. The make nothing but products aimed at the ricer community. Little to none of their products actually work as they are supposed to. Take their BOV (type "s" for shitty) for example; If you don't hook up the lower nipple, you will surge at low boost, however if you do, the valve becomes a MAJOR boost leak. Let's not get into the stripping of the screw's threads (which has officially carried over into the RS (for REALLY shitty) line).

If the company cannot make something as mechanically simple as a compressed air opening valve work correctly, then god forbid they get something as technologically advanced as a tuning platform to.

I know what your saying. I just wanted to see what your story was. Believe me, I am not into Dsm's for looks(although 2g's look sexy).

The oil cooler I have seems to do its job pretty well, and I do have the greddy 24v front mount but, I got it under the impression it was carb legal. Its not - but, the 18r is. My mistake.

Thats why I am having alot of things switched over to the other TRUSTED parts. =p

Oh yeah, nice greddy acronyms. It sucks things turn out that way.
