So apparently my 1990 GSX is a conundrum. i always though 90's have the TB with only two vacuum ports up top, according to the chiltons 1990 Turbo California vacuum diagram. Mine has 4, like most other dsm's. I also have a charcoal canister, which according to the chiltons, doesnt exist on a 1990 California model. My hood has the diagram of a 1991 model.

problem is, i got the car and the vacuum lines are fubar'd anyways, so i am re-doing them to get through smog per the diagram on the hood (since thats what theyll use to check hose routing) and i got to this little gem.

(See picture #2)

its done. they have it labeled as a "Thermal Control Valve", it looks pretty useless but of course, im gonna need it anyways. So can anybody tell me the part number using the CD Manual so i can call up mitsu tomorrow and not have to sit through a huge "umm, is it this..........." conversation? whatever it is, it bolts into the coolant housing and air runs through it, for whatever stupid reason.

btw also attached is a picture of where it sits on the coolant distribution node/block/thermostat housing whatever its called. hell, if someone could also give me a part number for the gasket between this cluster#### and the head that would be freaking sweet as well.

btw on the part itself, it is marked "Aisin" with the code MD103867 underneath.

i havent a clue what it actually does, id bypass it entirely but since its called out on the hood vacuum routing diagram, its going to be under scrutiny during inspection.

That's part of the EGR system. If you do not have one anymore/blocked off, just leave it screwed in (17mm x 1.5 thread) and plug off the vac lines that feed it.

FYI.. that fitting has a wax pellet inside that when cold allows vacume to pass btw the two cracktastic plastic nipples. Once the coolant heats up, pellet melts and blocks making the EGR operable only at proper engine temps.

Part manufacturer would be "Aisin", Mitsubishi part number ^^^^ would be MD103867.

sweet info, though being in cali and needing all the egr/smog bullshit to pass visual, i dont have a choice in the matter. it needs to be hooked up.

as for the part number i already googled it and everythings in japanese and that manufacturer is in japan so that was a dead end.

yeah it was 40$ from one of the mitsu dealers to ship it out to me. oh well. comes in monday.
