Hi,

I am looking into getting a 97-99 gsx. I was looking for parts to upgrade it. I am sparing no expense in upgrading this car. I will have a ACT clutch, a B&M short shifter, a aftermarket BOV(hopefully HKS racing blow off valve type II, fuel upgraded fuel system and ignition system, Venom intake drag manifold Greddy FMIC kit, head port job from RNR, RNR 3" O2 eliminator Turbo back exhaust, and Unorthodox Ultra-SS 4 piece pulley kit, EGT valve and gauge, fuel pres. and Bos/Vac gauge, tach., a MBC, a EBC when I upgrade the turbo. I was just wondering about some parts...
1.) Which is better HKS cams or Crower cams?
2.) Which is better a HKS SSQV or the HKS racing blow off valve type
II?
3.) Who makes a EGT gauge and kit for my car?
4.) Who makes intake manifolds and headers for this car?(I was going
to just get the stock exhasut manifold ported and get a ported 1st
gen. intake manifold, but I read that these are only good up to 400
HP.)
5.) Will a HKS VPC and a HKS AFR require me to modify the stock
intake system, like cutting and stuff like that, and will it just attach
to the stock ECU or a Haltech aftermarket ECU?
6.) Should I get the Dejontool intake for a DSM with a VPC even though
it deos not have tube for the BOV?
7.) What is the best turbo for a DSM?(I know this is a very hard
question to answer, so advice is very appreciated)

1. HKS
2. What is a HKS racing BOV type II? Get the SSQV
3. Autometer ... if you have all the money in the world (like it appears), then go with Greddy!
4. Get your 95+ exhaust mani ported and as far as an intake, just get a 1g intake mani, but get your head ported to match it!
5. VPC doesnt really require any real modification to the intake system (besides maybe a hole be drilled for the pressure system) but you might want a second opinion on that one!
6. doesnt really matter... with a vpc you are using (obviously) a pressure system... so you can blow off to the atm all you want to... in other words, get whatever you want! That is the beauty of a VPC :D
7. .....this completely depends on your goals. You need to elaborate on this one!!

-i know you know the answers to some of these question are subjective... better for you might be different depending on the person.

-and as far as your other questions check out the manufactures websites all you answers will be there.

-get on google and search for egt guages

-no need for a header on our car.

-who ever told you a 1g intake mani is only good to 400hp is smoking crack.

-yes you will have to modify your intake system..you will be geting rid of it

What do you mean I can blow off to the atmosphere with a VPC, do I need a BOV?(Might be a stupid question, but I got confused)

So put the SSQV in the stock location and instead of recirculating the blow off air just vent it. Thanks a lot. Is thier a proper way to set it up to vent to the atmosphere, or do i just let it vent to the atmosphere. Just making sure. Thanks a lot.

i don't think it'll bolt to a stock flange, but yes the stock location will work fine and the vpc will help get rid of the rich condition between shifts
 
Uhm. You buy an aftermarket IC pipe with the right flange.

I don't mean to be a prick here but you have a lot more things to do before worrying about getting the 264 cam vs the 272 cam, or installing a VPC. These cars don't need lots of expensive and big-named parts to go fast. Plus there are a hell of a lot of mods that you need to do before you get to the point of upgrading cams becomes really an option.

Do yourself a favor and search all the DSM vendors. Most of them have an upgrade path like we have here on this site. In fact, have you read the upgrade path on this site?
 
Thanks. So I could if I wanted to, use a ported 2g intake manifold, with a aftermarket throttle body for it. How much horsepower could that hold, or is that another stupid question.

dosent finding out everything before you do it take all the fun out of it..? its like know what your christmas present are before you get em. just start at the begining w/ intake, bov, MBC, and the IC pipes, and go from there.. i would suggest a turbo timer somewhere in there too.
