Ebay balance shaft kit

They say it right in their ebay ad "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten". I thought them problematic old style kits were obsolete by now. Most vendors now offer BSE kits with OEM parts with the rubber lined plugs and the stubby shaft with oil grooves. http://www.extremepsi.com/store/images/t_17650.jpg

You can just flip your existing front bearing and get the stubby shaft(MD098626) and plug(MD092785) from the dealer.

You can also get rid of the balance shaft sprocket with a spacer(MD128107) that weighs 2oz which shaves 8.7oz off the rotating assembly. Not bad for $7.:)

Wow all the way from korea. Thanks for the advise.

I would just be careful when reusing the bearings... It can be done! But you can also split the bearings if you are too rough.

You hit the spacer recommendation on the head.:thumb:

I got the kit the other day and installed it. I think it will work great. The freeze puug fit perfect aswell as the bearings. The cool thing about this kit is that the front shaft bearing that comes with the kit is acutally a plug. It is closed on one end which I think will make a leak less likely. It also helped in removing the bearings for the front shaft.

Also what sproket are yo talking about removeing? The one for the reat balance shaft?

Bringing this back from the dead to stop any missinformation. The EBAY balance shaft kits are not good. The plugs work fine but the stubshaft sucks. I am in the middle of a oilpump install now and I just took my old one apart. The shaft has no oil holes so it eats away the housing unitil it makes enough space for oil to get in an lubricate. So I would not use this kit again. I just cut the old shaft and used the stub and bought a 99cent 1 3/8 freeze plug for the new pump. Works great!!!

4G63 Turbo | Eclipse balance shaft elimination

These 3 parts can be had through me for $30 Shipped. If there are other parts needed ie, any bearings or anything I can get these too from Mitsubishi. I can try and work a price for you guys as a service to the community.

If the bearings needed are the part#'s MD040597(front) MD103722(rear) I can put that together for an additional $28 shipped.

I am not trying to advertise or anything. I would be using my employee discount to help keep DSM's on the road and hair in the scalp, by using OEM parts.

If this is illegal as per terms of use I apologise, you may delete it. Thanks.

Are you guys looking at the dates of the posts?

He got the ebay kit 2 years ago, he just posted an update that says it sucked...

I would guess 5000 miles. Hard to say. But in all seriousness you can eliminate the BS shafts for a few bucks. The freeze plug cost 99cents and you can cut the original shaft and reuse the berings. So if you have gaskets around like I do it is easy to do and cheap.
