I am most likely about to order a BOMZ 3" catalytic converter, but before I do I just wanted to see if anybody had one or has heard anything about them, such as how they sound, and if they are even worth messing with.

thanks for the suggestion, i might just end up getting a test pipe instead. Does it make the exhaust much louder and does it cause any problems with check engine lights or anything? Cops around here will harass anybody with a loud exhaust so I don't need that. The price isn't much different for the cat I was looking at. it has a 3" core and it is $49, or the test pipe has a 2.5" core and is $35. Wouldn't a 3" cat flow better than a 2.5" test pipe, or would it not because of the scrubbing effect of the cat? I see that they sell a 3" in a customized job, do you know how much more they charge for that?

The test pipe will make it a little louder but your a turbo car and that makes your exhauast quieter already < not that loud where you will draw attention> its possible the Check engine light will come on but 80 to 90% of the people on here dont get it or if they do it goes out after like a week or so. and if it doesent you can buy a emulator for the O2 with will fool the O2 sensor into saying everything is fine< and that goes for like 30 or 40 bucks> as for a custom Exhaust i had a shop do mine from the cat back 2 3/4 pipeing to a Apex N-1 turbo muffler and that ran me 150.00 so if you have the money and dont want to spend 500 to 600 for a cat back its well worth it and you wont have the resonators in the pipeing =)

Good luck hope i helped you some

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already have a Greddy EVO catback so I won't be going the custom route for that part of the exhaust. If I'm going to use a test pipe, wouldn't it be simpler to just go ahead and get a downpipe that replaces the cat? Do these downpipes usually have a bung for the 02 sensor?
