I have a 95 Talon TSI AWD a/t and sometimes when I'm driving it just downshifts for no reason. It doesnt do it at highway speeds, usually around 40mph or so. If I speed up again it shifts back into O/D. Just wondering if this is normal?
thanks

Yeah it seems it, your car is just trying to be in the most efficient(sp?) gear. And 40mph is probably right in between 2 gears. Making it jump back and forth a lot. But if its jerking into gear or hestitating then get it checked.

For 40 MPH or under driving, turn the O/D off-- saves wear and tear on the end clutch which is notoriously weak in these trannies. You may also want to look into the Alto end clutch upgrade-- check out this site for a VFAQ. I think he has some kits you can get directly from him as well.
