Okay,

Here is the rundown. I picked up this entire car for $218. It still has the full leather interior with all power options. It only has 89k on the body. The Motor, Transmission, and Transfer case are missing. This is the first time I have taken on a project of this nature.

I am wondering if the fabulous people on this board can take a look at these pics and perhaps can tell if there are any glaring defects, missing items, damaged things, etc. I know its kindof a rough question since you may or may not be able to tell a whole lot. Its kindof like someone handing you a box of puzzle pieces with no pic to show what its supposed to look like, and asking you to put it together. So if you can help, I appreciate it.

From looking at it, it looks like all the wiring is there. Your best bet is to find someone parting out their 2gAWD and tell em to give you a really good deal and buy a bunch of stuff, make sure he labels each part too. Ship it all through Greyhound so your shipping will be cheaper.

Does anyone know what that thing is in the 2nd to last picture? It was under the spare tire, and I had never seen one before in any of the other eclipses and talons I have owned...

Windshield washer fluid reservoir.

I see a transmission cooler so it must be a automatic. Make sure you get the correct transfer case. Auto and manual transfer cases have different ratios and are not compatible.

Oh, and dont make the mistake I did; the plug for the park/neutral switch is identical to the fuse box connector. I mixed the two up and fried my park/neutral switch which put me into limp mode. $80 part so be careful!

Good luck with rebuild! Looks like fun!

Thanks for the replies so far. I can get a Transfer case and Transmission for $575. Its claimed that the parts only have about 45k on them, but I am wary. How does that sound as far as prices go for stuff like that. I called every wrecking yard within 200 miles of me and not a single one had either part....?

I am going to probably get the engine done last, and probably wont even put the transfer case and transmission in until i buy(Just collecting needed parts at this point).

I would also love to have feedback on a project like this. Anyone with previous experience want to give me some tricks/advice on the best way to do certain things? I am open to anything.

:talon: :rocks:

Call me stupid, but the cooler in front of the wheel well looks more like a 90's 6 bolt oil cooler. My guess is he had a 6 bolt motor in it.

The 90 cooler and the tranny coolers look almost the same. The oil cooler doesnt have any brackets on the side like the one in the pic, just top and bottom. The tranny cooler is also a bit smaller and the lines are right beside eachother, instead of opposite sides on the oil cooler.
