Tuners,

Has anyone had problem with this fuel pump? Seems on Friday I was on the dyno with my FWD and it was running ok, I put on a SBR Race FMIC and a 1g T/B on my 2g. The car was running lean so we added fuel. Didn't make much difference on the A/F Ratio... Come to find out the Regulator line popped off. We put it back, let the car cool down and ran the car up again, this time the car would not take a load, it would run up to 4600rpm and bucks like crazy like its out of fuel.... I notice that my walbro stop humming, it was dead quiet???? Am I good to assume it’s the fuel pump or what???? Another crazy thing is, it only happens in 3rd gear, the car will run up to 22psi in 2nd; go to 3rd and bucks hard at 4600rpm. Any insight Tuners

Thanks,
Marc

How old is your FP? i had a problem kinda like that, i thought all along i had a stock fuel pump in my 1G, cause the guy i bought it from never mentioned anything like that, so i went ahead and bought a new walbro 255, cause i wanted to run atleast 14-15psi safely, and not get fuel cut, and no more boggin out at 5500rpms, so i took the old FP out and come to find out there is a 255lph fp in it, but the filter was so filthy and clogged i figured that may have been the problem, i put the new one in and there we go, no more fuel cut at all, and im able to make a clean pull through all the gears shifting at 6k.

Walbro's do fail even though some people love them.

If your profile info is correct, your probably over runing the pump. The pump is only good for a little more than 500whp. Sounds like it's time to upgrade your fueling system. Add a Bosch 044 external inline with the Wally if it hasn't taken a perma nap.

Thats true also, if your really pushing more then 500hp, you are gonna have to upgrade your fuel supply. new pump and not sure what injectors your running now but you may want to look into bigger injectors if you have anything under 660's.

He said he went there with his FWD, and thats the one the FP is giving him problems on, his AWD is the on making 500+hp. Was the fuel pump audiable before? Then it just went quiet? Its only in 3rd gear? Or only in 3rd, 4th, and 5th? I would replace it...whats a 100$ FP to a very expensive engine rebuild if the car goes real lean, and breaks something?

Thanks for the information, will get a new pump.. Yes the pump use to humm loud and now its just quit, dead silent. Crazy thing is, my 5yr old pump out of my FWD is in my AWD where I’m making 531hp... That pump is holding rock solid..... My FWD pump is about 1yr old and just died on me..... Thanks guys once again.

Laterrr...
