i have a 96 talon awd, and i just installed the walbro 255. when i replaced the pump i also replaced the fpr at the same time with an original one. before i installed these parts, the car started up and drove just fine, and now the car takes a while to start up, like 10 seconds at least of cranking time, to re-prime the fuel system before it starts. i have had the walbro 255 on 4 of my other cars and never had a problem with them untill now.

so would this be the fuel pressure regulator or pump? i have no pressure whatsoever in the rail before i turn it over. The car also kinda crappy, it seems that when i start the car, sometimes it runs horribly like i ran out of gas, and while driving it bogs down and stuters, i dont get it. what should i do?
 
The o-ring in the sending unit may have gotten pinched or is crooked from installing the new pump. This would cause you to loose pressure and run like ass. Take out the pump and check it.

After i did my pump, the car started right up. The next morning, wouldn't start at all. Took out the pump and found the oring was pinched. Reinstalled with plenty of lube on the oring, and haven't had a problem since. Starts right up.

If by "original" you mean OE, then you will need to replace it with an aftermarket one. I have read threads about the N/T regulators doing the job, but I have no personal experience and can only direct you to the search function.

A very common mistake, I would go back and double check. Mike is also right, your stock fpr is being overruned, an AFPR is in order.
 
ok, first off, i replaced the fpr with my old one, and it halfway fixed the problem. So today i went to muy the b&m afpr and istalled it used the core of the oe fuel pressure regulator that was bad. since the b&m is basically a spring and cap replacement, the broken fpr shouldnt be useable, right?


so when i put the pump in, i also put the new fpr on it. it came off of my friends car. there were no problems with the old one i dont think. the problem started when i put this pumpp and fpr on. so today i took the fpr my friend gave me off, and put th original one back on. the car ran great. i went to the store to buy a afpr, and it required that i cut just below the vacuum nipple on the original fpr and file it down, however, it just so happens that the fpr i had cut to build was the broken one that came from my friend. so would the fpr still be bad even if i put the b&m hardware on it?
 
The B&M FPR is worthless, since it will not allow you to lower fuel pressure. The last thing you will need to do with a 255 and stock FPR is raise pressure ;)
