Does it really matter what type of battery I should use? I was thinking about buying a optima red top, but i live in a warm climate year round ( florida) Im not goign to buy the shittiest battery i can find, but im thinking a red top is alittle overboard. I was also thinking of a interstate battery. Any advice?....

Red tops are pretty darn good batteries if you ask me. A buddy of mine just put one in his TT stealth, looks real good and fixed his crappy starting.

I havn't heard much bad about them, and for the type of battery it is, it's not a bad price.

I've been very happy with the Optimas, I've got them in 2 of our 2Gs with the race car running a Hawker/Odyssey.

The main advantage I see is that the corrosion that sets in with liquid batteries is completely non-existant with the gel-acid batteries, the terminals look as good as the day the batteries were fitted - one car 3 years, one car 5 years.

Yeah optima is the way to go. If I ever sell my car, my red top is one part that's definately coming with me.

If you have the money, you could try one of those tiny-ass stinger batterys. I've heard they work good. One was reccommended to me, but that is a leeetle bit to much.

I dunno, $100 for one battery, or three $33 batteries. Yes, the Optimas are terrific, but they just turn the starter and recharge when the alternator's turning. Oh, just like K-Mart batteries do.
Your decision. You decide if it's worth it to you. You could always spend the left-over $60 on an AAA card.

The point of gel cel batteries is that energy transfers over solids faster than it does liquids, however the gel being non-newtonian fluid, not being quite as fast as a solid is still faster than liquid -> salt bridge

:thumb: I buy my batteries from Walmart. Or, I bought my first one at Walmart and get a new one for free every year. It has a 2 year free replacement warranty and the batteries never last that long in the desert. I get a new one every summer when the old one craps out.

I vote for a Hawker Odyssey. They're light and very durable and for the price, it's worth it. Just don't forget to also pick up a set of SAE terminals.

Good luck,

Andy

I'm in Florida, I use a regular battery I bought from Discount Auto Parts. All a battery does is provide power to start the car. If you have a huge audio system with an upgraded alternator and a capacitor, get a Optima yellow.

Im not into the audio stuff anymore, i think ill just go with a regular battery since i have a 60 dollar card to pep boys.
