Ok, everyone knows that there isn't a 3rd button under the hazard and defrost button on 2g's. My idea was to buy a 2nd hazard switch and put it in that spot. Since it is an on/off switch, I figured it would work well for my dual stage boost controller. My problem is that the switch has about 9 wires coming out of the back of it and I can't figure out which of them to hook up the boost controller to. I did some testing to determine which wires were giveing power and when, but none of them are simple power on/off. If anyone has any info. that may help it would be appreciated.

p.s.~ I have done plenty of research and looked everywhere I could think of, so please, no posts telling me to do more research unless you have a good idea of where to look.

thanks for the help.

Here is the pin-out diagram for the switch. Looks like you can use pin 5 as the common and use it to turn on two solenoids each on pins 6 or 7.

Why dont you dump the whole "hazard switch idea" and just buy a simple 3 prong on/off switch? What you're trying to do sounds like too much of a hassle....

What hassle?? all you need is the pinout and now it has just been provided, in fact you can just probe the switch with a meter

the hazard is an on/off push button switch. it is perfect for racing! perfect position too. don't worry about hitting it too hard and breaking the flimsy toggle or anything. it's, in my opinion, a great idea and much better than a toggle switch. not too mention it will look much cleaner than a toggle switch sticking out of your dash.

also, toojung2die, i'm somewhat electrically challenged, can you explain to me what you mean by using pin 5 as the "common" and which wire goes there? thank you.

thanks everyone for the replies, especially toojung2die!

I'll try to make this clear and simple, assuming you know what a circuit is. Say you have two Boost Control Solenoids, BCS-A and BCS-B. You use A for low boost and B for high boost (I don't know what you're actually planning, this is just an example). Connect the 12V power from your battery to Pin 5. Connect BCS-A to Pin 7 and BCS-B to Pin 6. When the hazard switch is OFF, 12V goes to Pin 7 and turns on BCS-A (low boost). When the hazard switch is ON, 12V goes to Pin 6, BCS-B turns on (high boost) and BCS-A turns off. Pin 5 is called the common because it supplies 12V to either BCS depending on if the switch is in the ON position or the OFF position.
