emissions time- argh...!!!

ok, I have a 3" turbo back,- no cat, no resonator, very illegal. well- I have the evo3 o2 housing ( ported- if it matters), however. I am asking what to do for emissions.
several have told me different opinions.
1-( what I am leaning toward)- is to buy a complete- stock 2g AWD exhaust.
-however, I am not sure if it bolt onto the evo3 o2 housing.
2-appropriatly cut the exhaust, and weld in a high flow cat.

I would be looking at around the same price for both options but what would be prefered or work best?

weld? have them flange it so you can swap from high flow cat for smog then after to put back a straight pipe. If your fuel trims are in tact you can pass. You don't have to go on the rollers because your AWD, and since your a 95 they wont check OBDii readiness.

I have seen vehicles in cali with must more aggressive mods pass no problem, you shouldnt either.

I second that...Just make sure you dont have the check engine light. Try without doing all that with getting stock exhaust and etc..., you'll still have 2 more attempts for the same money if you fail.....That is how its working in Arizona....I bealieve you'll pass

Even if you go buy a stock exhaust, there is no gaurantee that the catalytic converter is in good shape (assuming your getting the exhaust from a wrecker). Just something to think about.

I'm in the same boat. I spent Saturday evening putting my stock downpipe w/cat back on. And stock intake also. I'm just lightly modded so it wasn't too hard to get it back to where it needs to be. Two years ago when I got it smogged last I passed with K & N, intercooler hard pipes w/bov, and catback exhaust just to give you an idea of what you can probably get away with.

I agree with the others. Buy a high flow cat and test pipe each flanged so you can swap them out. If you don't want to do that, I have the stock exhaust off of my car. You can use it for free if you will return it when you are done. PM me if you want to go that route.

A junkyard CANNOT sell you a used CAT, it's against federal law. I was also under the impression that muffler shops are not allowed to flange cats( cali smog nazi's) on and must be welded on, at least, thats what my boss told me . When i had my cat put on my car(3" high flow magnaflow), i asked them to flange it and they gave me the runaround and just welded it on there and then told me they didn't have 3" flanges when i picked it up. I say just weld a high flow cat on there and call it a day.

I would just get a stock exhaust instead of welding in a new cat. Then change it after emissions. I'd probably still worry if a high flow cat would pass, so that's my reasoning.
