Help!!! Removing The Head

Hey guys...need some advice/tips.

I'm in the process of removing my 2G HEAD.

So far I've successfully removed my Intake and Exhaust Manifolds and Valve Cover(big deal, right?)

At any rate, my concern is with the Timing/Cam sprockets. I don't want to offset them and messup my timing.

1. How do I be sure the CAM Intake and Exhaust sprockets don't get out of wack when removing them? (Other than just marking them)

and more importantly

2. How can I be sure the belt won't move and the oil pump sprocket and Crankshaft sprokets don't get out of wack when I'm removing the Camshaft sprockets....since I can't see the Crank or oil spockets?

1) Make sure everything is at TDC before you take it off. Then you will notice that both dowels in the cam gears point straight up at the 12 oclock position. Just make sure they are in the same position when you put it back on.

2) You won't. That's why you need to do a timing belt job. There is a way to do it without having to do a timing belt job but if this is your first time, I suggest you take the easier, less risky (albeit longer) way of just expectiing to have to retime your timing belt.

Thanks for the input...Tevenor.

But how will I be able to tell when everything is at TDC?

ie: if I can't see the oil and crank sprocket,

Thanks. I actually already do have all that info in addition to my 2 shop manuals. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Looking for tricks on how to make this as easy as possible.

Ok Thanks Guys...heres another question.

Where can I purchase the special mitsu tools? ie: MD982343 <Made up number

Because

A) The Mitsu dealers tell you to buy them from OTC
and
B) OTC tells you they only sell them to Mitsubishi Dealers.

What the F*@K!!!

Anyone else know where I can obtain them?

ok, sorry if i'm hijacking your thread but i would rather not post a whole new thread. I took my head off, for a valve job and timing belt job, then putting it back on i have everything put backtogether except one little hose on top of the intake manifold.(well actually behind it, left rear of it when looking at it) It has a little yellow tip on it looks like =- kinda. Looks like it should plug into something but for the life of me I can't figure out what? Any suggestions?

Thanks

yea, most likely it goes right by the throttle body by ISC it's kinda behind and easy to miss. i had same problem but instead i couldn't find the hose until my buddy goes "where does that plug in?"
