my 2g exhaust manifold is at the machine shop getting ported and they pointed something out to me, the collector plate on the bottom where it has that + looking thing that splits the gasses from the 4 chambers into the one exhaust outlet is cracking and they wont port it for me.. SO.. I have to keep it like this for now but in due time Im thinking of pickin up another 2g exhaust manifold or EVO manifold, what would u do? I want to port the exhaust manifold so I can port the turbo..

That place always cracks on a 2G. They should still be able to port it but if they would get and EVO manifold the collector is already 7cm2 and you can port it even bigger.

Later,

Well you won't port the collector any bigger but you could port the runners some(not nesseccary though). I have one and looking at it compared to the stock manifold you can tell it was made for a car with a 16G as the stock turbo. Yes just port the turbo and get the stainless steel gasket.

Later,

It will work becasue it doesn't matter if the collector on the manifold is 7cm2 and the housing is 6cm2 it's just a little bottleneck just port the turbo and it will be fine.

He's correct they all do it, just get the bigg EVO and be done with it, i wish they would come out with these things befor i buy something that's going to be old. This always seems to happen....

Also the one in the new parts section on here isn't bad looking, Tubular Exhaust, just make sure it takes a Mits. Turbo.

just get the EVO........

so the flange on the EVO is the same as the flange on the 2g and they come off at the same angle? Just wanna make sure the big 28 would fit incase I have to go this route

Does any one know if the evo manifold sits farther away from the block than the 2G one?? I am trying to find a way to give me some more clearence for turbos with bigger compressor housings. That way I will not have to dent the water pipe so much..

I do believe it does, for I did NOT have to dent my waterpipe on my FP Green install. I have pics of everything at http://www.picturetrail.com/faded

Oh in regards to the EVO3 vs. 2G here is a pic. The EVO3 is ported too.

I haven't even got to turn my car on yet. Everything was going great, then when I tried to get a FMIC, everyone ws out of stock and would have on in "two weeks". Well 1 month later "two weeks" never came so I just ordered a Spearco 2-272 and some mandrel bends from RRE. I will make my own damn FMIC with a short pipe run.

I'm hoping to post pips and measurements of the pipe run so that other 2G owners won't get stuck in this situation. When it comes to bolt on 2G FMIC's there seems to be Greddy or "two weeks" :D so I hope I can help people out that wanna just slap one together them selves.

Will do. I plan on having my baby back on the road next weekend. I should be getting the Spearco assembly on Mon/Tues and the pipes from RRE should hopefully come about the same time. Once I get it, all I have to do is figure out how to mount it, how to make my pipes, then take pretty pictures to show everyone that even a person with limited mechanical abilities can fix a DSM :D

I figure I have about a month of tuning ahead of me.

Have most people with a Green had to dent the water pipe to install it??

To the best of my knowledge, all turbos larger than 20G's usually have to dent the water pipe a tad to make it fit.
