We went to the dyno yesterday.. My setup is:

1G Stock internals
Walbro 255HP
ND 660's
AFPR
S-AFC
SBR G-50, internal gate
2.5" Exhaust, no cat, o2 dump

Wills Dyno Run

The above run was at 24psi, Race gas: VP 116. 335 HP, 330 TQ. I could have got alot more out of this setup, but with factory head studs I didnt want to push the boost past 24psi. ;) I did 5 runs and really didnt push the car. I wanted to hit 350 hp, but with some more tuning I am sure it can be done.

That is a pretty nice looking curve. I always like to see that you have not really dropped too much power from stock at equivalent RPMS. For example, our cars made 205 ft-lbs at 3000 RPM. You have managed to maintain that (almost--it is close) and from 3K up, it just gets stronger. Pretty flat too--not a lot of drop-off past 6K.

What was your knock and O2's? It looks like a decent pull. Your mods say you have a dumped O2, I wonder if a 3" exhaust would help you out any? It couldn't hurt, but I wonder if it is 15 HP?

BTW, I was curious about your timing. You can find 15 HP in timing alone. Mixture too, for that matter.

I am happy with the run. My pocketlogger wasnt connecting and I had a nice oil leak on my valve cover (over torquesd valve cover bolt). So I didnt want to push it. I only did 5 runs on the dyno. I will be to the dyno in the spring to see what the car can really do. Not bad for now. ;)

Will,

Thank you for posting!

You have similar numbers to Kevin Jewer on my M50....... His numbers are on my site. I think he may be running a little more boost.

Let me know when you want to upgrade the compressor wheel :)

Thank you again.

Regards,

Mike Huml

Mike,

The #'s that I put down: 335 HP, 330 TQ, was done with Spark plug 1 and 4 under 1-2" inches of oil. I saw the crack today in my valve cover today. ;) I have no doubt that my setup will put out over 350hp with no problem. I will be back in the spring to dyno/tune again. :D

Yeah I did 236 pump and 372 race gas on the M50. I had just installed the FMIC overnight and hadnt done any tuning, since a pipe kept blowing off on the way to he dyno  I was at 21 psi pump, and 25 settling down at 24 psi on race gas. Now that I cleaned my piston tops and got rid of all my knock troubles, and upgraded the 2.5" pressbent exhaust to a mandrel 3", I am planning to go back right after the holidays.

Nice numbers Wil. :)

236 or 336?

Would like to hear you dyno story.

fast_talon, nice numbers, really make me wish I have used a 1G head now, are there other mods you didn't list? at a glance I noticed you didn't list things like the big FMIC you have in your picture. :)

I got it backwards ;) It was 326 pump.

Not much story to tell. Put the FMIC on overnight that day, since it arrived the day before dyno day. I had to fudge the lower pipe connection, so it kept blowing off. It wasnt until I got to the dyno that I could get my hands on some additional 2" tbolts. So I didnt have a chance to tune. The pump gas run at 326 was knocking like hell, 6 degrees retarded, from a set 21, at 21 psi. I didnt make another pump gas pull. Swapped in race gas, set boost to 25, and the knock was gone, but it was too rich if i remember correctly, about 11:1. Made a fuel change an got 11.9-21.1 on thenext pull. Still no knock really. But not as much timing as I am geting now, by far. That was the last run, at 372 whp.

I fixed the leaking headgasket, cleaned pisotn tops (kiled all of my knock), fixed lower IC pipe, welded up a straight through 3" exhaust, and did a ton of maintenance/reliablity stuff. I know I fixed some boost leaks by "accident" while doing the work, since my LTFTs are reflecting that, and I am flowing less air but making more power. Long story short at 23-24 degrees advance on PUMP (DSMlink) it pulls much harder than it used to. My goal is 400 whp on pump, but Ill bet I'm only halfway there from the 326, maybe 350-360. I will most likely need to run WI or PI to get boost high enough on pump. If the holidays werent right around the corner, I'd be at the dyno right now ;) Soon enough, soon enough. Wish me luck. :D
