Can I turn up my AFPR to check for leaks?

I have a feeling that I have a fuel leak somewhere in my system because sometimes I smell fuel under boost. I know by using my logger I can purge the pump but that is what 36psi and I see no leaks. Now I wanna see if under boost I get any leaks. My q is can I turn up my AFPR to 52psi at idle and that would be like running the base 36psi plus 16psi of boost? Sorry if it sounds dumb but I figure I need to ask so I can learn thanks.

Yes you can. You can also apply 16 psi to the source nipple on the AFPR.

When I installed my AFPR the instructions said to turn it up quite a bit past any levels it would ever see, that way you ensure that there are no leaks. I took some normal paper towels and wraped them around every fuel connection under the hood and had it at about 60psi and let it run for maybe a minute and no leaks.

Some '91s don't have the fuel pump check connector but if you do using it might work better. The ECU/datalogger way only turns the pump on for 5 seconds or so.
