Hey, My buddie and I have a 91 Talon TSI we're working on, Its got the stock turbo and stock everything. Only thing done is plugs and wires, and a manual boost controller (the turbo XS one that just mounts and you screw it in and out for more-less boost) We don't run to much boost through the stock turbo, but how much can the stock turbo really hold? and also...about my topic, we have a turbo xs blow off valve from a previous car. Where should we mount it on the stock piping to get the best out of it? This is our first DSM turbo car , So we're trying to figure out the best way to go about all this. Any advice would be very helpfull!
thanx!

I would use the stock location although the stock bov on that car is good enough for pretty much all the stock turbo can put out.
You should also check out kcdsm.org You're not too far away. Also gateway.dsm.org Columbia also has a club dsm, but I can't remember their website.

ok, i have the same question with a different setup though. if im going to a water cooled intercooler it will be along side the head where the battery is and the i/c pipes will be very short. i imagine the shock wave coming back from the throttle plate closing suddenly is much quicker than the BOV's reaction time, therefore i was thinking it should go before the intercooler just a few inches after the turbo...does this sound right?

It can be close. the shockwave will open it because of the vacuum on top of the spring and the high pressure on the bottom. this pressure differential is what the bov operates on. In fact, I think yours will be very quickly responding b/w shifts if you put it up near the TB

yes, but it takes x.xx Ms for the vacum to hit the upper side of the bov and start to cause any sort of reaction, by that time the surge wave has passed it by. the intercooler piping will ony be 4 inches from intercooler to TB and 6-8 from turbo to intercooler.
