I was looking into having a custom exhaust built for my car by one of our great site sponsors, and while doing so needed to find the correct size 3" inlet/ dual outlet muffler for a completely stock appearance. In doing so I needed to know the dimensions of the stock muffler and thought it would be useful for those who need to choose a muffler and may want one that is different than the Magnaflow one that I am going with.

The muffler body is 11"X6"X15" (WXHXL).

The dual tips are 4" center to center.

The stock exhaust opening in the rear is 8 3/4" so your tips together should not be wider than that (sorry, no dual 4.5" tips :D ).

The stock chrome tip covers are 4 3/4" long (actually they are slant cut) and 3" in diameter.

This should be very useful for those seeking a stock looking alternative to the single exit muffler.

This is the muffler I am probably going with. They also make a polished version for those looking to add a little bling to thier exhaust.

WOW dude, thats awesome. You know there's sleeper guys on here that will love that.

I'm pretty sure the same applies to 1g's, but i found a muffler w/tips thats the closest thing to stock that i've found yet.

So for you 1g guys looking to just buy a muffler and tips together already, this thing is awesome. This is what will also be going on my car in place of the small bullet muffler and 4" tip thats on there right now.

The only thing with that setup with the 2G guys is that the tips are staggered by 1/2" to flow with the round shape of the rear fascia. The inner tip sticks out 1/2" further.

Its prerry sleeper, I would not put tips on it since the muffler fitw VERY well, as is. Here are some pirctures of mine installed. Magnaflow PN 12189 Just like shown above. It was $80 on line with free shipping.

Again this is with no tips just the muffler. Fits almost like factory.

I had the N1 but after it rotted thru with rust I just hacked off the canister and had this welded in. Fit like a charm. It did not change the tone from the N1 much at all, and the uncalibrated butt dyno did not notice change between the Magnaflow and the N1.

Now to anodize the FMIC. YUP sleeper. VERY nice.

spoolup: very nice. I like that alot. I have no doubt you will be suprising the hell out of a lot of people. The only thing I wonder about is around here cops are pretty good about not pulling over kids with exhausts on their cars, but will pull over a car with a stock exhaust that is defective. Hopefully you don't fool even the police officers. Oh yeah, blacked out FMIC == teh hotness.

Thanks Kdutts, I really like the lowprofile almost non existant mod look (I even moved my beautiful gauges from the pillar to the center console to make it normal), unfortanlty the license plate stands out like a sore thumb and lot of people know it well. The license plate frame gets the finger from girls quiet often as well.

The cops really crack down on exhaust violations in the summer time. The law here is written so vauge that if you moddify it at all you may get a ticket. So I keep it under the radar. I had a cop get out of his car once and tell me I need to get my car into a shop immediatly since my exhaust was so white (he thought lean). Thank god he does not know what 110 octane smells like. But he did not notice the exhaust was aftermarket. Gave him a thanks, a thumbs up, and drove off.
