Ok, i hope i dont confuse anybody...

First of I just slapped on the new AGP t28. I finished the install last night and started the car for the first time today. I did the whole pre oiling (taking of the spark plug wires and cranking a few times) then started the car. There was some white smoke coming from the exhaust manifold. My dad and I looked at it and figured it was the lubricant I used to pry loose a few bolts that was burning up... so no big worries. I made sure to put in 2 bottles of oil since i know i lost some during the install.. (coolant also). Everything seems to be working fine until i start driving... While in 2nd or 3rd gear it wont boost past like 4 psi. Why is this? I can hear the turbo begin to spool... then around 3 or 4 psi... i cuts off... as much as i press the gas the RPMs wont go any higher and boost totally stops as well.

Now I am using the stock 2g oil feed line because I am waiting on a banjo bolt to use the AGP steel oil feed line. How do I know for sure that my turbo is getting oil. I really worry about this because i dont want to screw it up. There is absolutely no oil leak or coolant leaks anywhere. Although the white smoke is still there after like 10-15 miles of driving and the smell is kinda bad. What would be a symptom of my turbo not getting proper oil... just in case??

Is it my wastegate actuator maybe what isnt allowing me to spool up? When I took it off my stock T25 I broke the little circle clamp that holds the rod onto the turbo flapper. I havent replaced that little clamp... i just put it on the T28 flapper in hope that it wouldnt come off... it hasnt yet, but is this maybe the problem?

:thumb: Thanks for any help from anyone. I just want to make sure im not going to kill my brand new turbo. I cant wait to spool up that mofo...

please help!!! (...sorry so long)

mine smoked for a good 30 mins. ( i put on a small 16g over thanksgiving). YOu could literaly see all of the penetrating oil that I put on the mani bolts (and mani) boiling out of the pores and burning off. I didn't worry too much as I could see that it was still wet.

if you want to see if you have oil flow through the turbo, loosen the return pipe at the turbo and start the car. It should come running out, so don't do it for too long. it won't mean that you have total flow, but at least some oil going through the turbo.

did it just stop all of a sudden? and did it smell?
last i checked which was about 2 hours ago it still smoked. :(

yea... like i begin to boost up... in first gear it never goes past 1 psi... but thats normal.. then in second gear i'll press the gas.. i hear the turbo begin to boost up... then at about 4 psi it flutters and stops spooling. I cant seem to get it to go past 4 psi no matter how hard i press the gas or what gear i am in

i'm thinking so... i probably just didnt connect the lower intercooler pipe tight enough or something stupid like that...

its just to cold and dark outside so i'll check it tomorrow.

thats probably it though right? shouldnt be anything wrong with the turbo install if everything seems to be working fine.. just wont boost past 4 psi

you said its normal not to boost more than 1 psi in 1st also.....not in any turbo i drove, i hope thats part of the problem also.

It has to be a leak somewhere, u need to put a clip back on the wastegate or you will pop it off when u do boost. Check the ic hoses and all the lines, got to be there somewhere.

First check for any leaks in the piping, then check to see if the wastegate is functioning properly. If you have a air compressor, pressurize the wastegate actuator fitting and see if the rod opens and closes correctly. Sounds like the flapper is open constantly not allowing the turbo to spool up fully.

sounds like a wastegate issue!!!!!! because the wastegate controlls how much boost you make( that's why you have a boost controller routed to the nipple off the wastegate..... but everyone knew that!)sooo. if the wastegate is broken, and the flapper is always open there is no possible way that the turbo can fully spool up because your letting all that air that is required to spool the turbo out the exaust!!! example- it would be like filling you car with oil and then taking the oil drain plug out... all the oil would drain out and your enginw would be toast! same with the air from the turbo! the resistance from the wastegate gives the turbo it's spooling power... so without that you can not make any more boost than what the turbo can build with tha flapper open.

SORRY it's soo long, but it may help!

did you take the intake off and check the turbo for shaft play, then I would look into the waistgate is it ajustabel if so crank that arm in(tighten make shorter) so its really tight as long as you have a boost gauge, it should take a pare of vice grips and a good about of muscle to pull it over the flapper arm. I rule out leak just because the turbo would just spin faster untill it made up for the lost air, unless a ic pipe has a hole 2" in it or somthing, it would get over 4psi and did you ever check your boost gauge, was it working befor? and how slow is a dsm on 4psi? Good luck man
