I started getting boost creep in this cold weather. I have a small 16G with the 1G 02 housing (was frozen to the turbo and I couldn't get it off) and the stock 2G downpipe. I have the mbc set @ 15 psi, but over 5k, it goes to 17+. does this seem right??? with the stock (1G) 02 housing stock 2g dp and 2.5" back from there, i definately did not expect to have issues with creep.

thanks

Umm a 2g O2 housing is better than a 1G and the stock downpipe sure isn't helping.

Exactly dude. My buddies 2g with 16g and stock exhaust except a cat back does the same thing. The weather thing is just efficiency thing. Just try porting a 2g/evoII o2 or getting an aftermarket o2 elim DP or something... it will help A LOT. Good luck

i tried everything I could to get the 1G housing off of the turbo (bought it used)...fire, pb blaster, liquid wrench, breaker bar, impact wrench. no luck, so I just went with it.

test pipe. turbo unported. when I get the 190lph in I won't worry, but I just have the rewired stocker now. I still have the dp to try and avoid creep (and I got the turbo for 100 bux from a friend and couldn't pass that up) the dp will go on soon as I get one (christmas will be here soon).

Just to clear that up, I was referring to an o2 elim. DP which will help a lot. Sorry if tht was unclear. Also porting the flapper hole will work as GRNDSM said. Good luck,

Austin

your right the smaller DP is helping becasue the O2 is so small.

Try going to a avaition place and getting some penetrating liquid called
"mouse milk" It will break it loose I guarantee.

Raptor,

Just about any well running 2G with a test pipe and 16G/14B will creep. So that is not surprising. As a matter of fact, if it didn't creep, it would tell me that something is wrong with your set-up.

If you port your turbo/2O housing, things will get better, but still not guaranteed to work. You might still have some creep.

Going to a larger flapper valve and porting your WG hole even more, will eliminate the creep in almost all cases.

Austin,

My coments were directed to John, I didn't even see your post until later :).

As for 2G O2 housing superiority, I was one of the first people to do such upgrade back '96. They are slightly better for performance, but the difference is so small, that it is not even worth mentioning. If anything, 1G O2 housing has better internal passage to prevent boost creep. But 2G housing can be ported to flow better than 1G housing from both performance and boost creep standpoints (which are not the same).

Best penetrating liquid ever.

well that pb blaster was much better than the liquid wrench...ex. mani. bolts came off with no probs. I'll see if I can find that mouse milk though.

thanks guys

I may just stick with the 1G 02 housing though unless i get an 02 elim. downpipe. A fellow dsmer wants to buy my 2G housing for a quad turbo motor he is working on.

Leon is correct, the larger flapper and ported 2g o2 housing will help out much more. My big 16g creeps to 19-20 psi lately even with the larger flapper (34mm). Wastegate exit hole is ported very well but o2 is only lightly ported for me so that's why I am getting some creep. Doesn't bother me though since I have supporting mods and log. At least the car feels like it is tuned right.

Good Luck,
