I heard the eclipse gsx should be able to use ~15psi of boost with everything stock, using 93 octane. Will i be able to get more then 15psi if i lowerd my compression with new pistons from here: http://www.gtpro.com/allproducts.cfm?PID=Engine lets say i lowerd it to about 8.0:1, what kind of boost do you think i should get on 93 octane after the compression is lowered? And does it make sense to lower the compression more and use more boost like this? Thx.. peace

I think there is enough evidence right now to say that higher compression will be more beneficial then less compression. Yes all else being equal a lower CR will allow you to run more boost but a higher compression motor will spool a lot sooner and you just have to run a little bit less boost on pump gas. The car with the higher CR ends up being a lot more fun to drive on the street. On race gas I am pretty sure slightly higher CR would be better too because then you would really get to take advantage of all that compression. If you can run 25-30lbs of boost on a 60-1 just think about trying to find a turbo that can be efficient in the 40lb range. I think that would be a lot harder/more expensive.

If you are really looking for a monster setup for pump gas go with a 4g64 or the 2.3L stroker kit. More displacement will equal more hp on pump gas.
