wastegate question

If I were to have a 95 ported O2 wuth a 40mm tial wastegate and dump tube, is there anyway that I could pass emissions. Also if anyone from IL has a external wastegate....have you passed emissions and how?

I have a 35mm external mounted on my manifold... vented to the atmosphere.

Passed fine.


in AZ... the emissions workers get paide minimum wage to look under hoods -- none of them are professional mechanics. Therefore none of them even know what they are looking at on a modded car -- even so, how many mechanics do you know that would even know what an external wastegate was if they weren't into the performance side of things.
