Hey whats up guys, Ive noticed that when I turn on my car in the morning to warm up after about 5 min it starts blowing white maybe blue smoke. As I am backing it out of my drive way it the smoke is more noticable, I switch to drive and take off and I leave a cloud of smoke behind me. After it switches to 2nd gear it stops smoking. This only happens when the car sits for more than 5 min. Any ideas what can be wrong?

valve seals... mine did the same thing so i replaced them... then everything was fine... it really wasn't that difficult of a job either... i bought one of the valve spring compressor tools... i think i was able to get mine of ebay and it wasn't that expensive and it did the trick:thumb

Actually, it could also be rings. But from the sound of it it's valve stems seals. Sometimes you can't tell btwn the two though. When im idling occasionally i'll blow a little smoke, then again at acccel from idle. It has something to do with low rpm not building enough heat to burn the oil leaking in.

It can be a host of things 2 of them were mentioned already. Theres also the turbo seals that could be leaking oil and of course a blocked pcv valve. So i would go thru everything.

I got a nice gauge for testing compression and leakdown at Advance auto for somewhere in the $20.-$30. range. good tool to have. Worth the expense, sure beats a mechanic who would charge twice that to test the same with the same gauge! mark

Check the turbo for shaft play. It's very easy to do: Take off the intake and try to wiggle the compressor wheel side to side, up and down, and in and out. A bare amount of wiggle is okay, but any more may cause some serious problems. Check for oil in your lower intercooler pipe also.
