I'm looking to purchase a 6-bolt out of a 91 TSi AWD. I know the previous owner of the car and set him up with my buddy when his 97 GST Spyder crankwalked. Now that he crashed his Spyder he doesn't need the motor or the stand he bought. Car ran perfect before removing the motor, no shaft play on turbo, 125k on it. I plan to rebuild and do it up with forged internals. He wants $550 with the stand minus the turbo (which I don't need anyway, could I get a better deal or should I take it? I was considering shopping for a freshly rebuilt 6-bolt but I have a feeling it'd be hard to find one local like this motor (and this one I know some of its history). I'm just gonna build this one up slowly for a BIG turbo and BIG nitrous while I chug along with my 7-bolt. If it ever walks I'll have a backup and when I get the 6-bolt done I'll just drop it in and sell or part out my 7-bolt. What do you all think? I'm gettin from a knowledgeable but rarely posting user on this forum that it's too much and I should just get a block, head, and crank separetely for cheaper. Input?
