I have a offer to buy a 16g turbocharger with a 2.00? aluminum elbow welded to the discharge end of the turbo. This turbo has approximately 500 miles on it and was used in the development of a prototype twin turbo system. The turbos were run at low boost (6 psi) and were always run on a diet of Royal Purple synthetic oil. The flapper valve assembly has been removed so the unit(s) will need to be used in conjunction with an external wastegate (the seller does have a discharge elbow available for use on a 1G DSM that incorporates an external wastegate available separately). The swing valve shaft hole has been welded shut to prevent leaks. Does this sound like a good turbo still, with the MOD's that has been done? There are not any draw backs to what has been done, is there? I am loking for a good 16G, and this one sounds like a great deal, but I am not completely sure on the MODs it has done to it. Let me know if any of you turbo-knowledge guys know what has been done to this turbo, and if it provides any advantages over a regular 16G. One more thing, can the external wastegate from a stock 14b be used? Thanks!
