Hello. a fellow freind just bought a used 7 bolt block and some how we cant get the flywheel to bolt on because crank shaft bushing is out too far. from my undersanding is the crank shaft
bushing made for auto transmissions? if it is how can i swap it so we can put on the flywheel and clutch asemmbly? can some wise men please help?

Does the flywheel just not fit onto the crank? On mine I had to throw the flywheel in the oven at about 425(same as pizza) and wait for it to heat/expand, then put it on before it cools. Mine was aluminum though not sure what you're using, but it can't hurt to try.

OK, if you're putting a manual tranny on then just pull the bushings out, you don't need them. Also make SURE you're using the correct bolts, I believe the auto bolts were shorter than the manual bolts.

Removing the flexplate: This is a simple task if you know how to do it....Use a 1/2" breaker bar attached to the pulley side of the engine and wedge it in so that the engine crankshaft won't turn. There are 6 19mm bolts (most years) that fasten the flex plate to the crankshaft. Use a breaker bar and be careful not to let the socket slip, you don't want to break or strip these bolts! They are grade 11 and impossible to drill out. After they are removed you don't need them anymore, the flywheel to crankshaft bolts are longer than the flexplate to crankshaft bolts. Remove all the spacers and bushings that were between the flexplate and the crankshaft. The new flywheel must be mounted directly to the crankshaft with NOTHING in between. The flywheel will rub on the inside of the tranny if you don't remove these pieces. Now may be a good time to do some preventative maintenance and replace the crankshaft seal (If you're quick you can do this without draining the engine oil, barely any will come out in the 5 minutes it takes to replace.)

Ok you need to find a short socket to fill the hole in the crank. Flip the socket over put in a extesion in it so you have punch tool to compress wet toilet paper in the hole in the crank. As you do this the bushing will come out. Put in more wet paper And hit the extension with the socket on the end of it till the bushing is all the way out. Then install your flywheel.

thanks turboanything, got it off and got the clutch assembly on.

I dont know who came up with the wet toilet paper idea but I gotta give em props! Works like a champ. mine was rusted in pretty good and couldnt think of any way to get it out. tried it an Voila! came right out. THANKS !!

I just used a large pipe wrench and started turning it like I was unscrewing it. It loosened up, and came right out.
