Custom Clutch Questions

I have a 1995 TSI FWD my next mod will be a clutch. I was wondering would it be possible to have a local well know clutch shop build me a nice strong clutch and use my stock pressure plate? Does the pressure plate have to be upgraded when you upgrade your clutch? Will the custom clutch perform ok with a stock pressure plate? thanks alot for any help the reason im asking is because I can get a really nice strong clutch for about $50.00

Pressure plate is what makes the grip.

You can use an ACT 2600 with a stock OEM 2g disc, actually thats what most people do.

Pressure plate is the key.

Don't try to re-invent the wheel when it comes to clutches, get something pruven, such as the 2600.

You've read alot on CW I'm sure.

No one can really say for sure what causes it besides a mis adjusted clutch and/or bad machining.

If you want a clutch that lasts, look at the 2600.

Or the X-clutch from RRE, which supposedly holds/lasts longer than the 2600, with a much lighter clutch pedal feel.

I think Mike @ DSS has a similar clutch out as well, might want to contact him.

Get it adjusted per TFM, and you'll be fine. I had a 2600 on my FWD for 20k, and I had absolutely no problems. In fact, driving in a DSM with anything other than a 2600 feels like a pile of crap now. I've driven also in a 6-puck/2900 car, and it wasn't too bad either.

I also just put one (2600) on my beater FWD just because I love the feel so much.
